Sight & Sound Theatre

by tripleapam

Interested in your thoughts about the Noah Show at the Sight and Sound Millennium Theatre. Is is worth the expense and will a seven year old enjoy?

Re: Sight & Sound Theatre

All I can say is that my family and I are going in December and all of my neices and nephews are going as well. Their ages are 3, 6, 7, 10, and 12. My sister-in-law has been before, and assures us the kids will have a remarkable time......(although I have no kids, so they won't be my problem! ) There will also be 7 adults going, and we already have plans to "take turns" walking out with the little ones if needed....although I hear the show is awesome, it may be a bit too long for the little ones (about two and a half hours long). I think the prices are very reasonable considering the price of the Christmas shows on Broadway. I think it would be a great experience for the 7 year old.

Yes - WELL worth it and children will LOVE it! We just went to both Noah and Abraham & Sarah (there is a discount if you book more than one within a week).

Absolutely spectacular! Very professionally done, awesome special effects, dramatization, acting, props, costumes, stage, etc. Enough cannot be said about it.

By the way, Ruth is in its closing season. The next production is the Christmas one, and then comes their new production in Lancaster on Creation (In the Beginning). They do two different productions a year.

Sight and Sound is building a new theater in the midwest's Branson, an area which famous for their music. Our friends who traveled from Oklahoma to Sight and Sound are glad to know this because now these fabulous productions (with state-of-the-art sound and props and truly professional production) will be closer to home.

If you missed Noah, Daniel, or Ruth, watch for them to appear in their additional theater in Branson.

Moravian Star Decoration

by keida84

In many Mennonite/Moravian homes the very first Christmas decoration that appears is usually the Christmas Star or Advent Star. (Sometimes called the Herrnhut Star.)

This many pointed star (26 points) is carefully hung in a porch or hallway of the home on the first Sunday in Advent. It is always lighted to welcome visitors and friends.

Apparently the Moravian Star originated in Herrnhut in approximately 1850 and the inventor of the star is unknown. Smaller Moravian stars are used as ornaments, but regardless of size or composition the Moravian Star sends a loving and meaningful message.

It represents the star the wiseman followed. At Christmas time in Lancaster these stars hang in the doorway of many, many homes. It is a beautiful sight.

Buy an Hamish Quilt

Buy an Hamish Quilt by Rebecca even it is not cheap. And look at the fan. It does not work with electricity : it is pneumatic ! But how the compressed air is produced ? That's the mystery... or may be, the sin.

Lancaster's hub

Penn Square is the center of town and is highlighted by the Soldiers and Sailors Monument in the middle of the square which honors Lancaster County's soldiers who served and died in the armed forces. The monument dates back to July 4, 1874.

Buggy Museum

Older order Amish may not own cars however they may ride in automobiles when necessary as in medical emergencies. There has been some relaxing of the 'rules' where business depends on transporting goods, or the need to visit distant relatives, however a driver is usually hired.

Pennsylvania Renaissance Faire

by Knight_Kadosh

Begin with the unmistakable realization that you can not begin to see all that the Faire offers in even two full days of exploring the Shire. Thus, a return visit would seem inevitable.
