Philadelphia has the largest collection of outdoor art (i.e. sculptures, monuments, murals) in the country. In fact, the city's 2700 murals have earned it the nickname "America's City of Murals." Wherever you walk around town, chances are you will come across a piece of public art.My favourite sculpture was the giant, 45-foot clothespin near City Hall. It was designed in 1976 by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen who, as I have come to learn, seem to have carved up a career out of making huge sculptures of common objects (their website is http://www.oldenburgvanbruggen.com).
