We are planning on hanging out on Delaware Ave and South St, we need a cheap but not dirty hotel close to that area, any tips? We have about 20 people.
Philadelphia is not particularly well supplied with hotels, unfortunately. There are only a handful that would meet your location criteria. None are cheap (but then again, none are dirty either).
I agree with travelmad. Nothing cheap but nothing dirty either. When my buds nd I hang out downtown we hire this van service that sends a driver and van, takes us wherever we want to go and then home. great way to drink without the DUI !
Once in a while you will see blue signs around center city in Philadelphia with yellow text on them. Pay attention as they provide interesting information about certain buildings, people, and/or historic events. Who knows, you might learn something new!
Listen, Philadelphia is a great city. There is so much to do here that I'm not going to tell you what you can't miss, I have unique tastes in my activities so I'll try to keep the page as mainstream as possible and give you some good hints.
There are murals everywhere where the used to be grafitti. Some of them are really beautiful. Many make political statements. They're all over center city as the result of a group called the Mural Arts Program. Check them out on-line an take a virtual tour of our murals. http://www.muralarts.org
I was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed Philadelphia during my first visit. When we started to plan our Grand Tour for 2002, it was natural that I return and show my family the sights. The Museum of Art and of course the Cheesesteaks!
Visitor Center
The Battle of the Brandywine and the American Revolution are presented in the park's modern Visitor Center. An
exhibit and audio-visual presentation tell the story of
the battle in the context of the Philadelphia Campaign of 1777.
Hours of Operation
The grounds and historic houses are open Tuesday - Saturday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and Sunday, noon to 5:00 pm.
The park and all facilities are closed Mondays.
Directions
The battlefield is located on Route 1 in Chadds Ford, on your left as you head north toward Philadelphia and on your right as you head toward Kennet Square and Longwood Gardens.
