Expensive but excellent - The Westin in Pittsburgh

Because it was a business trip we stayed at a much nicer hotel than we usually do when traveling. Normally we look for an inexpensive hote in a safe neighborhood. The Westin does not fit into that category. Its expensive. Its also very elegant and comfortable. The room was very large and very comfortable. The restaurants inside the hotel were very pricey and the food was good but not great. The service was excellent and the hotel staff were very helpful. Would I stay here again? Probably not, unless its a business trip!

The Westin

I have stayed here twice- once for a friend's wedding weekend and then for my honeymoon. The service is great, the rooms feel fresh and the beds are comfy. Also, the views we had were interesting, showing a slice of the city that I hadn't really looked at before.

Unique Quality: They had the most comfortable beds I've ever laid on.

Comfortable and convenient

We stayed overnight at the Westin while attending a baseball game. The hotel is modern with nice amenities. The rooms are of average size and were very clean. They have very comfortable beds that the Westin chain pushes as a feature and they lived up to the hype.

If you are a baseball fan, this hotel is used by many of the visiting teams. He may not be your hero, but it was cool being in the check out line with Barry Bonds and Moises Alou.

Unique Quality: The hotel has a lap pool and workout facilities. There are two restaurants in the hotel, a little pricey but the food was good. The hotel is located right next to the convention center and is close to restaurants and other nightlife.

Heavenly

We had a very nice stay and the Westin Convention Center. The room was well-appointed with all of the amenities I could foresee ever needing. The bedlinens, which are Westin's signature, were indeed as heavenly as they claim. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this property to anyone.

Unique Quality: In addition to the bedlinens, the bathroom fixtures were very luxurious. The showerhead had all kinds of settings to help you get the feeling you want from your shower. The location is great, right in the centre of the city.

Beyond fantastic!!!

by A TripAdvisor Member

I was put up in the Westin Convention Center at the last minute as I was attending a conference and almost all the other hotels were sold out.

I was amazed at the size of the lobby and the friendlyness of the hotel staff at the front desk. I asked for a room on the highest floor and they could only give me the 16th floor (which is not that bad)

I got to my room and was amazed at the size of it. It was very big and clean and tastefully decorated. The bed was AMAZING! I didn't want to wake up the next morning because it was soooo comfortable. The shower in the bathroom was great too, the shower head can heal any aching muscles you have.

If you are getting away for a while or your in Pittsburgh for a conference, I would recommend this hotel.

It's alright

I just returned from a stay at the Westin. It was okay, the service was definitely just average. The guy at the check-in made no effort to be friendly and he acted like he didn't know what I was talking about when trying to get a cord for my computer. I called the next morning and it took them an HOUR to get it to me, and I had to call back to ask about it. That person was very apologetic and nice though. I liked the restaurant. Service was great, but wasn't too expensive. Room service breakfast is a definite thumbs down. The rooms are nice and comfortable. Would probably stay at Sheraton Station Square next time. Stayed there before and they had better service and were extremely convenient to restaurants.

Westin is the Best in Pittsburgh!

I had a delightful New Year's weekend at the Westin in Pittsburgh! Great room at a great price. I was quite surprised that almost everyone checked out of the hotel on New Year's Day leaving me have the hotel to myself! The staff was first rate. Pittsburgh had a great New Year's Eve celebration with First Night that impressed me! I would come back again to the Westin!

Incredible...comfy beds

I went to Pittsburgh for an alone/Xmas shopping weekend in November. The Westin was very affordable. I was surprised at how luxurious the room was. The bed was incredible and allowed me to feel like I was at home. The staff did everything they could to make me feel welcomed. I truly recommend this hotel!

Can't Go Wrong!

I stayed at the Westin for two nights in May of 2004 and absolutely loved it. The room was spacious, the beds very comfortable and the shower was a one of a kind. I attended a Pirates game while in town. The visiting Chicago Cubs stayed at the Westin so you know it's gotta be a great place. It's a very easy 10-15 minute walk to the ballpark from the hotel. One warning- Do not park at the parking garage under the hotel. It was $18 a day to park there. If you go to the convention center parking garage, which is connected to the Westin, it is much cheaper. I'd definitely stay here again and probably will on my next trip to Pittsburgh.

good value

Recently had an enjoyable weekend at this hotel. Located a short walk from downtown shopping and the strip district ( bars, restaurants, etc.) and a short cab ride from the south side, shadyside & oakland it offers a great location. The rooms are contemporary & understated but quite comfortable. The "heavenly" beds are just that. The hotel has an excellent gym by hotel standards complete with lap pool. The Original Fish Market located off the lobby is an outstanding seafood resaurant with a bustling but comfortable bar area. Hotel services such as luggage help are not great and I never saw a concierge, but the affordable rates allowed this to be easily overlooked. We have stayed there before and we will stay there again, and I don't hesitate to recommend it to you.
