I honestly can't picture where they would be a hotel in the area...State College (home of Penn State University) has MANY hotels, but they aren't THAT close to the park. Millheim, Aaronsburg, Woodward...all tiny towns within a half hour of the park that might have in Inn or bed and breakfast, but we're talking about a place that's well set back from uh...civilization. There are lots of hunting and fishing camps in the area, though...
ANYWAY, that is NOT what this tip is about--telling you what's not available, so allow me to proceed:)
Poe Paddy State Park offers camping...in fact, I believe that is the one of the 2 main reasons to go here. (the other is fishing) There are lots of beautiful sites along water and up in the mountains. They are "rustic" however, but they do have pit toilets and water.
Just the surroundings make this place unique...it's quiet, serene and beautiful. A great place to take kids who might want to play in the creeks and it's also nice knowing there's another state park within a couple miles that offers swimming, boating, concessions and other activities.
