Ricketts Glen Hotel: Conveniently located in the middle of no where

The rooms are located behind the restaurant. Not typical, you have to check in at the bar of the restaurant and there are about 6 rooms, one with a full bath,, another with a half bath, the rest having to share a hall bath, but it's very clean. We reserved the room with the full bath, large, very clean, pleasant and a view of the beautiful lake which the hotel sits in front of. The employess are very friendly and helpful and made us feel so much at home. The restaurant gets very busy, from locals to out of towners. The food is "wonderful", limited menu, but what they had was simply out of this world. The first night my husband had the NY strip/scallops and I had the Ricketts Glen Chicken, awesome, very tasty and well seasoned. His steak, med rare was right on it. The only thing I didn't care for were the zuchini stix which I believe were not hand made. But the friendly staff and the owner who frequently visited the dining room, made up for that! The hotel is very close to the falls, which were amazing, but a long hike. So afterwards we just wanted to relax. The hotel also has a very nice deck over looking the lake, which we ran to after our showers and with our "Happy Hour" drinks, my Bloody Mary which normally would have cost $4.50 were only $2.25, can't beat that, great drinks, great food, great views, wonderful staff...we'll be back! We went in April, which I recommend early spring or fall because the area gets hundreds of thousands of tourists each summer.

Close to destination, great staff, great views..

Ricketts Glen Inn: a safe room and a hot shower

This inn is just a step above camping. It's basically a long hallway attached to the back of a restaraunt. Had a very hostel feel to it. Most rooms share a bathroom (which was clean) and if you're lucky, you can get a room with a private bath. You can sit on the back and listen to the sounds of the night and look at the gorgeous stars but there isn't much else in terms of night life.

Sweet Valley Cottages: Sweet Valley Cottages

If you're not into staying right in the park, in a cabin, then these cottages are a good alternative. They aren't expensive, per night during the summer season, they are nice and close enough to the park and some other attractions.

Sweet Valley, PA is between Ricketts Glen and Wilkes Barre, PA. It's close enough to go to the Poconos for the day, into Wilkes Barre/Scranton (if you are going to see a concert at Montage Mountain, for example), or to Worlds End

Each cottage has 2 bedrooms, a kitchen, a living area, a full bathroom and a large porch.

Ricketts Glen State Park cabins: Cabins

They are like most PA state park cabins--nice, cheap and the best deal for your money if you don't care for tent camping. You have your choice, too--a modern cabin with a living area, modern appliances and a bathroom or a rustic cabin w/ no indoor plumbing. However, they do have refrigerators, a heat source and stove.

It's nice being in the park and having your choice of cabins...

Rickett's Glen Hotel: "conveniently located in the middle of nowhere"

If you don't feel like camping it's very close by, AND an excellent resturant and bar are attached! The owners are very kind and helpful and will make your stay a pleasant one!
The hotel has approximately 8 rooms. When we went in May we were the only ones staying here.
There is only one room that has it's own bathroom with shower, this one is a little more expensive (about $10 more) and is spacious with a queen sized bed. Otherwise the other rooms either have a half bath or have a shared bathroom in the hallway. (with the half bath you have to use the hallway bathroom to shower) All are very reasonably priced about $40-$50 a night.
They do not serve breakfast, however. You will have to travel a little ways to get to a diner. we are quite familiar with the area and went to a place in Dushore that we go to when we are camping nearby.

Stand on the back porch at night to hear the perfect sound of nothing but frogs on the nearby lake, or wake up early to watch the sunrise over Beaver Pond
