If you read the "bad " reviews...They all seem to be talking about the main inn...The townhomes do not have an elevator. The kids loved the pool, the skiing was great!!!! Clean and comfy!!!!
Once was enough

My husband and I just returned from a weekend at the Shawnee Inn. Upon arrival, I was delighted w/the room which was right in the center, river view $$$ and larger than the others. The bed was clean and comfortable. The television was positioned on the side so it was awkward viewing from the bed. The bathroom was fine, plenty of thick white towels. We took along a large window fan to muffle hallway and adjacent room noises. Good thing we did, it seems this Inn is a favorite for loud late night drinking golfers! The grounds were very nice and the view from the porch captured serenity where I enjoyed a cocktail. The only breakfast available at the Inn is a buffet. I only
wanted some cereal, juice, toast and tea which I had to pay the $8.95
buffet amount. We enjoyed some great Delaware Gap hiking on Saturday w/spectacular views. Traveled to the town of East Stroudsburg which was dissapointing. This town has seen better days! Sam Sneads dinning experience didn't live up to my expectations. The physical site is great but my entree of shrimp and lobster capellini was disappointing. Salad and dessert were great! Other dissapoinments included warm shower one day and totally cold the other. Also the phone did not work. Expressed these issues upon checking out w/a kind expressive apology. Oh, by the way they tack on an additional $17.90 resort fee in addition to the tax and service charge. We are non golfers.
It's a Gem!

We just came back today and wish we had more time to stay. The hotel is on the gorgeous Delaware River and you
can canoe right from the property. The staff are friendly. Yes, rooms are small, but it's an older property, dating back from the early 1900s so what can you expect? It's historical. Bob Hope, Dwight Eisenhower, Mickey Mantle and Jackie Gleason all stayed here in its heyday. It has aged, but not terribly.
It is well managed and you can't find anything else like it in the Poconos. If the food at Charlie's doesn't suit you, go to a Thai restaurant named Saen nearby, which is superb and reasonably priced. The details are charming. You can read a book
from the bookshelf and have a drink in the lobby. If you want contemporary full service with sparkling decor, you need to go elsewhere. If you want quaint and traditional, come here. It's a gem.
