Travel Tips for Newport

Every time, Something new

by cjg1

My favorite thing about Newport is that each time I go there are more memories that will drag me back here. It is the type of small historical town where you can just get away and see a little today, a little more next time and no one ever hassles you. I do love this town and enjoy it each and every time I go.

The Dockside

by Geoff_Wright

Much of the dockside in Newport has been rebuilt and modernised over the years. But none of the character of the place has been lost. Everything has been tastefully restored, and it's a delightful area to brows through the shops and restaurants/cafes.

by cjg1 about Newport Harbor Center

I love Antiques and this place was full of them. From the outside the building doesn't look like much but inside is a large selction of antiques. They had furniture, toys, crystal, china, silver, maps, clothing, jewelry and more. We browsed through for almost an hour looking for something fantstic to buy. Anything antique that would complete your home or life.

Enjoy a glass or two of wine

by Gypsystravels about 22 Portside

We were walking around the wharf and decided to stop here and grab a freshing drink. It's a spring and summer patio bar loverlooking Bowen's Wharf.

You can also enjoy a great steak or seafood meal at the award winning restaurant. They have an extensive wine menu. A few glasses of wine before continuing to explore beautiful Newport.

Visit The Mansions

by lionreb

Are you in a mansion mood? Newport is world famous for the summer cottages of the rich and famous of yesteryear from New York and other places. There are about 15 mansions open to the public for a fee and the furnishings inside are all of museum quality. My favorite is the Marble House. Most of the mansions are located on Bellevue avenue and have their own parking.
