Rhode Island is Red Sox Country. I am a Yankee fan and it is disappointing to come to Newport during BAseball season and have to endure Red Sox on the TV. We did once find the Yankees on the TV in the One Bellevue Bar.
Lots of eateries at the waterfront

It's been a long time since I was in this restaurant so I won't comment on the food....but the location of the restaurant is great. It's right on Bowen's Wharf where you find lots of sail boats, shops, great people watching and tons of places to enjoy a cold drink or lunch, dinner ... and wonderful chowder, of course.
Fort Adams Historic Tour

For a few dollars per person you get an hour long guided tour in, around, and underneath Fort Adams, which was built to protect the colonies/fledgling nation. There is nowhere to buy food at Fort Adams State Park, but there are picnic benches available.
