Relaxing with a beer
It is common knowledge that you should not touch anything in the Mansions. They should be respcted and treated as a museum. There are signs posted and guides remind visitors not to touch but I have witnessed it happen before.
On a tour of the Breakers the guide told us that many items go missing from tour to tour and they have found visitors touching and playing with historical pieces. I find this to be disrespectful and rude.
The local minor league team plays right across from the visitor's center. A great way to pass a couple hours on a hot summer's day.
The entire 2008 schedule seems to have no home games. Games are played from June through July with the league playoffs being in early August.
I really liked this joint. Was a nice atmosphere and we were able to enjoy a snack and some drinks.Not as dark as most bars it was quite welcoming. And the desserts were fantastic. I have come to this place ever time Liz and I are in Newport. Although the desserts were fantastic here I will probably keep coming back for the drinks. I was on Percocet at the time of my last visit but Liz really enjoyed her drink and even thought it was too strong. So looking forward to come back for the "taste test" myself.
Every August there are two festivals held in Newport at the Fort Adams State Park. Both are a pain in the butt to get to because Newport is a pain to get to, but worth the effort. This years websites are at

Cliff walk is a 3 1/2 mile walk along the ocean side of Newport. About 2/3's of the walk is along a paved path and then the final stretch is unpaved. In the unpaved portion, you walk along a path that is basically walking on stones.
As you walk along, you have stunning views of the ocean on one side and for a good portion you have the backyards of many of the stunning Newport mansions on the other.
Bring your walking shoes and your camera for an enjoyable couple hour walk.
