More about Spring Street Inn

Our Favorite B and B

by A TripAdvisor Member

We're getting to know Newport quite well and the only place we'll stay is our favorite--The Spring Street B+B. Our visits with genial hosts Pat and Jack, who provide us with knowledgable and helpful suggestions for sightseeing, make us feel like family. Their hospitality and gourmet breakfasts are delightful. Located near downtown provides easy walking to the waterfront as well as to other places of interest. Their rooms are all clean, attractive and comfortable. A great place to stay!

Splendid experience at the wonderful inn

by TripAdvisor Member guest7

Beautifully situated on a quiet street less than 5 minutes away from the downtown area and behind the Elms Mansion, the inn offers a romantic and pleasant experience at a very reasonable price. The Inn is impeccably clean and cozy. Pat, the keeper of the inn, is very knowledgeable and informative about Newport and its history. She offers sound advice on the notable places to visit and great restaurants to eat at. It would be a disservice to the reader for me not to note the great food that is served at the inn. The breakfast is home -made and absolutely delicious, and offers a variety of food for people of different tastes. At about 4:00 p.m., Pat serves refreshing home made lemonade and chocolate cookies. If you're looking to spend a comfortable and romantic vocation in Newport, the Spring Street Inn would satisfy you and leave you thirsty for more.

Great Newport B & B

by TripAdvisor Member dsyers

A wonderful bed and breakfast in Newport. Very nice and quaint property ideally located near some of the best attractions in Newport including the piers, the tennis hall of fame, and shopping along Thames street. After a wonderful night's sleep my girlfriend and I were treated to a delicous breakfast of homemade pastries, eggs, meats and fresh orange juice. The innkeepers couldn't have been nicer or more informative about the ongoings in Newport. We will stay at the Spring Street Inn anytime we are in Newport.

A gem of a find

by TripAdvisor Member rollmops

My husband and I stayed at the Spring Street Inn over the Columbus Day weekend with another couple and were pleasantly surprised at the level of service and the comfort of the inn. Our hosts were friendly and very knowlegeable about Newport, its history, tourist attractions,as well as shopping, restaurants and other points of interest.
Parking was provided and the inn was centrally located so we could walk just about everywhere. The house was historic and very charming, but had all the modern comforts ( the bed was firm and the modern bathroom had a shower tall enough for my 6-foot plus husband, and tons of hot water). But I saved the best for last - our hostess was a fabulous cook. Unlike the usual muffins and coffee i'd had at other B&Bs, the Spring Street Inn provided a full and very yummy breakfast (eggs benedict, french toast, bluberry pancakes, omelettes, fresh baked muffins, coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice) And the final treat - at 4 p.m. each day homebaked chocolate chip cookies with lemonade. We will definitely be back. Maybe we'll make this an annual ritual!

Pat and Jack are the greatest!

by TripAdvisor Member Wasfiyah

Pat and Jack are delightful hosts. Their inn is right smack in the middle of town without paying outrageous prices that all the other inns were asking for. My husband and I traveled with another couple and we had rooms with a king-sized bed and a queen sized bed for less that $200 a night during the long Columbus Day holiday weekend when it's still considered peak season. The rooms were decorated splendidly -- poster beds, canopy beds, beautiful wall paper and wood furniture.

The outstanding hot breakfasts were unbelievable! Pat cooks up the best Eggs Benedict we've ever tasted -- lemony and delectable! There was fresh, cut fruit with home baked sourcream cofee cake, sausages, home fries, pancakes or french toasts, omelets, etc, etc. Sitting down to a dinner table forced us to socialise and meet our fellow guests -- something we usually don't have a chance to do at other B-and-Bs -- and share tips and reviews of Newport sites. Every afternoon when we reconvened at the inn to rest up and prepare for an evening out, the whole house smelled of (lemony?) fresh baked chocolate chip cookies. On our first day, we tasted them -- they came served with iced tea and lemonade. The second day we rushed home in eager anticipation of the smells that awaited us -- and we weren't so shy this time!

The rooms are absolutely clean and lovingly maintained and we hugged and kissed our hosts good-bye, parting as friends, feeling we had shared their private homes. We are definitely coming back here the next time!

Loved the romantic quiet Inn

by TripAdvisor Member ME1017

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Spring Street Inn! Patricia and Jack were very warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. We stayed on the second floor where every afternoon at 3pm cookies and lemonade and iced tea were served. We were close enough to downtown that we were able to walk all over downtown without moving the car for the 3 days 2 nights we stayed there. We had a wonderful breakfast every morning of our stay. Patricia is a wonderful cook. Jack and Patricia were wonderful hosts, we felt as though we stayed over a family member's home. There were so many lunch/dinner options to choose from, and the inn keepers had a stack of menus to choose from.

Our room was without telephone, and tv which was excellent for a romantic getaway. We were able to sit in the den, and catch the weather/news in order to better plan our trip to the magnificent cliff walk, and mansion tour. The inn is about one block away from the nearby mansions. We have and will continue to recommend the Spring Street Inn to all our friends and family. Thank you for a wonderful stay Patricia and Jack. Please, don't change a thing. We will definetly return.

We always love our stay here

My wife and I have stayed at the Spring Street Inn many times, most recently last month. We always enjoy our stay. We find Patricia and Jack to be wonderful hosts, and the food is delicious. The Inn is in a great central location so it's an easy walk to all kinds of attractions. The rooms are comfortable, and well decorated. We have recomended the Spring Street in to many of our friends and family, and everyone has been delighted.

Not up to our liking better inns in Newport for sure.

by TripAdvisor Member horseguy-7

We stayed here in October and thought ,gee, we really don't like this place.
1st. The house is located at a busy corner and it is very noisy.
2nd . The smell of the inn was very musty and not clean.
3rd. The innkeepers were a bit off and not as nice as others that we have encountered. For the money I would stay elsewhere just based on the noise factor. It was not peaceful at all.

What a Wonderful Place!!

This was just a wonderful inn. The rooms were beautiful, the location
perfect and the inn keepers delightful. I would suggest it to anyone.
It is a wonderful time!
