The Wilcox is an old mansion - huge mansion. The rates are higher than Hotel Aiken, but the difference is also two-fold. Big over-sized beds and gas fireplace awaited us. The bathroom was old-fashioned with all the modern "needs."
Town is a walk away. The other direction is the horse sports and a strip of USA shopping (Wal-Mart, Target a little mall).
The Hopeland Gardens is two blocks away and the grand library across the street.
Holiday time (When we were there last year) the whole historic downtown looks like Charles Dickensland less the poverty. There's restaurants and a micro-brewery, shops and antiques!
Inside the hotel everything is like a time travel. Woods and paintings. Breakfast was in a beautiful room (buffet) each morning. The owner (?) picked us up at the airport because we were late for our friends.
I loved the place so much I moved here!!
Unique Quality: The bedding was simply the finest I have ever seen in a hotel or Inn.
