Perfect Location

Just off E. Bay St, where much of the Charleston "action" is, the Anchorage Inn was a former cotton warehouse, if I am correct. It provides the perfect location to the waterfront scenery and the shops and restaurants of Charleston. It's a wonderful boutique hotel with an almost castle-like feel to it.

More about Anchorage Inn Charleston

Very comfortable and clean

by TripAdvisor Member MP2NC

A group of 8 of us stayed at the Anchorage Inn in June 2007 for two nights and all found it to be a great place to stay. It was clean, comfortable and in a great location, close to everything in Charleston. It was an Inn with some rooms with no windows except facing the inside as ours was...but that didn't bother us. In fact we slept more soundly with no outside noise. The other couples had the front three rooms on the second floor and said that they heard noise from the tourists, some from a rooftop bar across the street. Even with that noise they said it wasn't that bad. There was afternoon wine and cheese and also evening sherry. The breakfast in the dining area was very good with plenty to choose from, more than adequate for a continental type breakfast. One thing that we found in Room 12 was that it was the MOST comfortable mattress that we have ever slept on. We would go back if ever in Charleston......and we also had a great walking tour by Ed Grimball of Charleston Walking tours. I have never heard of anyone talk about a city with so much love ......made the entire tour even better.

An absolute pleasure!

Anchorage Inn exceeded our expectations in ambience, decor, service, and location. It is small, quaint and very charming. It is located near the water front park, the Market and most of Charleston's best restaurants and bars (Slightly North of Broad, Cypress, Magnolia's, Market Pavillian, Mistral, Noisey Oyster, to name a few). You absolutely can't beat the location!
Breakfast and afternoon wine, cheese & crackers were included in the price. All this for a very reasonable price!

Great hotel!

Great hotel. Very comfortable and staff was very nice and helpful. When we checked in our bathroom light was out;within minutes someone was in there with a ladder and a light bulb. Was within walking distance to most everything. The ONLY thing I regretted was getting a room right on the street - the evening noise was horrible. When you reserve, specifically request to NOT stay in room 3 or 8 - they are literally right on the street outside the hotel's front doors. Otherwise, I would definitely stay here again. The cont. brkfst was very good as well.

Great place to stay!

We stayed here on our honeymoon and loved it! The staff is wonderful, the rooms clean and cozy, and the staff is great.

Perfect location - within walking distance of many restaurants and points of interest.

The continental breakfast and afternoon cheese reception each day were fabulous.

Overall, a great value for the money! We'll definitely go back.

Great Place to Stay!

This is a great place to stay when you are in Charleston. In the heart of the historic district. Easy walking distance to just about anything you want to do. Only has 17 rooms and 2 suites, so not to many people. The staff is great, the breakfast is great. It is nice to sit and have wine and cheese or a glass of sherry. Rates in the winter are alot cheaper than the summer.

Excellent location, great room, nice wine and cheese happy hour!

We had been staying at a Comfort Inn outside of the downtown that was a dump. We had to get out and found the Anchorage Inn on a lark. It was an excellent location in historic Charleston, SC. Great room, very clean. Really nice staff. Nice wine and cheese in the early evening.

Perfect!!!

Perfect location, perfect price, perfect everything ...

My husband and I were looking for a quick getaway for the weekend. We have not stayed downtown before, so we weren't sure what to look for in a place. We parked the car (after dropping off our luggage and checking in) in the lot behind the hotel and did not move it until we checked out. We could walk to shopping, the market, dining, waterfront park ...everywhere!

Room was good size for a downtown location. King bed and then room enough for chairs and a 2 small tables.

Met some great people in the wine and cheese (FREE) in the afternoon and also during the sherry nitecaps (AGAIN FREE). We heard they had a wonderful complimentary breakfast, but did not get up early enough for this! :)

We will DEF stay here again! We also did a tour through Bulldog tour co and it was great.

Great Location

This hotel is located in the market area and is very convenient to shopping, restaurants and other attractions. The staff was most pleasant and the room, other than the fact that there was no window, met expectations. The price was reasonable. The continental breakfast and afternoon wine service in the library were simple, but enjoyable. We would return to this hotel.
