The Porcher-Simonds House, 29... by Stevel47
The Porcher-Simonds House, 29 East Battery, was built by Francis J. Porcher in 1856. It was enlarged and remodeled in the early 1890s by John C. Simonds. Simonds remodeled the house in the ltalian Renaissance Revival style popular in the 1890s. He added two front piazzas (one square and one semi-circular) and a semi-oval wing on the south side of the house.
