Visitor's Center! by Sagespot
Ok, if you've never been to Charleston before then GO TO THE VISITOR'S CENTER!! It's located on Meeting and John Street and the people there will hook you up with everything you could ever need. Not only will they assist with hotels and motels, but they'll even give you a list of cab numbers in case you're stuck in the city late at night. Additionally, if you're in town for a length of time or you firmly believe in public transportation then this is the place to buy your bus pass.
The staff was always super helpful. They have a great array of historical data posted on the walls with some museum exhibits on loan and even a few sweetgrass basket weavers to boot! Additionally they have a nice little shop on the end of the building that sells tourist trinkets and bottled water for pretty reasonable prices. On the eastern side of the building there are tons of benches and some hanging moss/architectural forms that are really nice to sit and relax under. Sometimes it can be quite a walk from the historic districts, so this is a good place to take a rest.
The Center is located at 375 Meeting Street.
