On the Cheap
It may not be in the touristy downtown area of Charleston, but if you have a car this is as cheap and clean as it gets. There are a few other places that are cheaper, but I would NOT recommend them. This Motel 6 is in a safe area close to lots of food and dining and the Citadel Mall in the suburb of West Ashley. The rooms are simple, but clean. P.S. YOU MUST HAVE A CAR IF YOU'RE NOT STAYING DOWNTOWN.

Cheap Lodging is Best here
I live here but you are 15 mins from historic charleston where the rooms are 125 a night so stay in motel 6 at 43/ night and rent a car . A day parking pass is 6 bucks at many garages and well worth it
Unique Quality: hotel is price per room and 6 bucks for for a two bed hotel room
