I would highly recommend The Cabell House. This bed and breakfast offers you the very essence of Charleston. The B&B is located just steps away from Battery Park and the harbor. It is also situated deep in the historic district, surrounded by historic Charleston homes, like itself. We stayed in the spacious and charming Witsell room. This room was spacious and had a king sized bed. It also offered coffee with hand-made Charleston biscotti's, small high-definition tv with cable, and complimentary bottled water. You are also provided with complimentary parking, which is a plus as many of the bed and breakfasts in the area charge for parking. The home itself is decorated in beautiful antique furnishings to make you feel like you are living in a 1800's Charleston mansion.
Unique Quality: Randy, the owner of the home, insists on making yourself right at home. "Everything in the refrigerator is fair game," she tell us. We were encouraged to enjoy a glass of wine on the country porch, enjoying the beautiful surroundings. The B&B offers complimentary continental breakfast, or for a $5 donation , you can take a few steps over to the beautiful, historic Palmer house for a full Southern breakfast- eggs, grits, sausage/bacon, biscuits/toast and fruit. We did this one morning and this was such a highlight because we ate breakfast on the second level porch overlooking the Cooper River. Randy will also provide you with a list of her favorite restaurants, which was most helpful to us.
