The University of South Carolina has been an institution of higher education for over 200 years. The architecture of the academic and dormitory buildings has more character than at UNCC or my alma mater George Mason University. The University of South Carolina is a member of the Southeastern Conference and the home of the Fighting Gamecocks.
I think Richie would like this place better because there are beer vats on the premises whereas the other one "imported" its beer from its Myrtle Beach locations with the beer vats on site. Mark had a late afternoon snack of she-crab soup which he only rated as mediocre, it had too much salt and too little crab. Of course he had another beer or two.
Built in 1850 was purchased by Celia Mann a freed slave. She lived her until her death in 1867. Her descendants lived in the cottage for over 100 years. In 1970 the home was sold to the Columbia Housing Authority. It is now preserved.
This is a beautiful building constructed in 1935 and really shows that at that time, the thought of another World War was inconceivable. Inside, the building is dedicated to documenting South Carolina's historical contributions to war, from the early settlers all the way up to the most recent wars in the Middle East.
There is also a beautiful memorial fountain just outside that you can see in my travelogue.
