Hilton Head Weekend

by travistravel

Hi all,

Just wondering where you would recommend staying on Hilton Head for a weekend.

What beaches are nicest to relax and bake?

What restaurants are good food and atmosphere?

Any info would be appreciated,

Thanks!

T.

Forest Beach is basically the only beach, and it's 14 miles long. South Forest Beach Drive has a lot of hotels and resorts to stay at. There is a Holiday Inn which isn't too expensive, and it is close to everything. The other resorts are a little more expensive. As for restaurants, Hudson's is a nice seafood place, but it is on the far end of the island. The island has every basic restaurant you'd find any place else, but I would recommend going to a seafood restaurant, because you can't find those everywhere.

Jasper's Porch, a few minutes away from Hilton Head, was great, with dining overlooking a lake with alligators, turtles etc. Excellent food, at a reasonable price.

2. Lands End Tavern no reserv. taken @ South Beach
3. Old Oyster Factory 1-843-681-6040, no reserv taken
located near Shelter Cove
4. Surfside Grill @ Sea Pines Beach Club open to
the public at 5pm. No reserv taken
5. Hudsons On The Docks located at the northern end
of the island
6. CQ's at harbor Town @ Harbor Town, call for phone # Does except reserv.

Hello again, I have a few mistakes with my eariler
response. First. Old Oyster Factory is located near
Broad Creek, just off Hwy #278 on Marshland Road.
Second, I mispelled Cafe Europa which is right on the
water front at Harbor Town. You will need to purchase a day pass at the Sea Pines Gate if Cafe
Europa or CQ's are your desired restaurants of choice,
also the above applies to the Lands End Tavern.

As far as hotels are concerned, I have always stayed
at my brother's time share condo at Sea Pines. So
you may want to check out Hilton Head on the web and
see if you can get the agents to mail you a restaurant,
hotel and activity guide.

Early Bird II

by grandmaR about Hofbrauhaus

Since we were at the Coastal Museum at the end of the afternoon, and we finally had a map with all the roads on it, we decided to drive around to check out what was available without going all the way back to the unit. We went to dinner at Hofbrauhaus. This time the early bird special was soup or salad, main dish and dessert. Bob had the salad and I had the soup. Bob had steak, mashed potatoes and string beans, and I had schweiner brauten (pork roast) with mashed potatoes, red cabbage and applesauce. We both had German apple streudel for dessert, and the bill with 6% tax and 15% service charge was $34.05.

Island Golf

by TRimer

I have now visited Hilton Head twice. Once on business the week the Yankees last won the world series, and more recently this past Thanksgiving for a Renaissance Weekend. Both times, I had an enjoyable time but was under impressed. Yes, there are beautiful golf courses and nice beaches. But I just did not see this as a vacation paradise. My boyfriend at the time (now my husband), a golf pro, on the otherhand could not wait to go down and play Harbortown.
