Hilton Head Family Vacation
by VirtualAmy about Hilton Head Rentals and Golf
We stayed at a vacation rental property through Hilton Head Rentals and Golf. It was a spectacular home located at 13 Singleton, in the Singleton Beach area. This is the first time we chose a vacation rental as opposed to a hotel. We loved it. It was perfect for the large family vacation and not as expensive as you'd think when everyone pitches in and we saved money on meals, with the ability to cook for ourselves instead of eating out for every meal. I did however miss the daily maid service. I like having someone make my bed for me but the jacuzzi tub in the master bedroom made up for it. The view was awesome. We were located directly on the beach. We had our own pool and jacuzzi.
Hilton Head Best Accomodation
by Blkbelt57 about Shelter Cove Marina Condo's
Beautiful view of marina in one direction, the sound in the other. Marina has 5-6 great resteraunts and shops. Marina is well lighted at night, large enough to get your exercise walk in. Disney has a property on the other side of the marina. Just outstanding environment. This is not the place to stay if you want Ocean View. I found Ocean view windy and boring. This place is sheltered from the wind and rain and you can watch people and beautiful boats come and go. Dolphins are abundant in the sound waters. Request marina view if possible.
GREAT Hotel for First Trip to Hilton Head
by TripAdvisor Member rkdDallas_Tx
Checked in on the Friday before Memorial Day. Had an ocean front room overlooking the pool. Room was very clean and more than adequate. It was quiet and insulated from pool noise. The waves on the beach tended to drown out the people-noise which was very pleasant. Check in was quick and trouble free. Ocean is just steps away. Lobby and general grounds have a tropical feel to them and are well maintained. Staff was always smiling and said "hello" everytime we walked by. Pool bar was fun although you can't take your drinks to the beach as no alcohol is allowed per state laws.(in the evenings it is easy enough to walk down to the beach with a drink but during the afternoons they have a guard watching the guests) Room service was outstanding and quick. We had one meal at Conroys and it was outstanding. All told, this is a clean, very nice and comfortable hotel that I highly recommend. Parking is limited and you may have to drive around several times before someone leaves a spot.(unless you use valet parking) Front-desk personnel were very helpful and to top the whole weekend off, I changed my mind and decided to stay an extra night. I asked for a cheaper room as it was going to be an unplanned/unbudgeted request and not only did I get a cheaper room but it turned out to be an upgrade to a suite!! It was a very pleasant surprise to end a great holiday weekend and the Marriott went out of their way to make my mini-vacation superb. Can't wait to get back.

Worst Marriott experience Ever!
by TripAdvisor Member Jeanelle
Let me start off by saying that Hilton Head Island is absolutely lovely. However, if we ever decide to return there, we will NOT stay at this hotel. Our whole Hilton Head experience was tainted by our stay at the Hilton Head Marriott Beach and Golf Resort. We decided to splurge on an oceanfront room and paid premium price for it over a holiday weekend. Yes, the view was beautiful, but the room was horrible. As others have said, it is VERY dated and worn. The room smelled horrible, the wallpaper was peeling in the bathroom, the bathroom floors were old and dirty looking. The pool area was nice, but forget about getting a chair unless you put your towel on it at 6:30am. I got up to watch the sunrise and I couldn't believe there were already people down there saving chairs! There were signs up that the towels would be removed if left unattended for more than 30 minutes, but they certainly didn't enforce that rule. We ended up paying $28 to rent 2 chairs and an umbrella on the beach. On the last evening of our stay, the room next to us was host to a college kid party. Several calls to the front desk yielded zero results. What a joke! It's like we were staying at a cheap motel! So long, Marriott!
Visit to Hilton Head Island

Hilton Head Island is the most beautiful beach I have been to. The powers-that-be there have done a lovely job of keeping it very natural and clean. The building codes must be strict. The beach was stunning...not wall to wall high rise hotels and motels.
I was really struck by the beauty of this place.

Hilton Head is wonderful IF you play golf and tennis. The island has good restaurants and lovely plantations. Plantations are simply the name given to various complexes or districts. There is a multitude of condos and beautiful scenery.
Hilton Head, South Carolina
by mikelisaanna
Hilton Head is an island off of the southeastern coast of South Carolina that has become one of the most popular resorts in the Southeastern United States. People come to Hilton Head for three reasons: to relax, to play golf, and to go to the beach. Hilton Head's beaches are wide and uncrowded, and its water is nice and warm compared to what we are used to in the northern US. In addition, its golf courses are among the nation's best - Hilton Head features courses designed by top designers such as Robert Trent Jones and Tom Fazio. For the kids, there are a number of miniature golf courses.
Hilton Head is a very family-oriented resort. It is much quieter than Myrtle Beach, the other major resort area in South Carolina. It is also focused on rental homes and condos, as opposed to hotels and motels. While there are bars and restaurants that you can go to in the evenings, they are very laid back. Most visitors to the island spend their evenings at home with their families. If you are looking for a wild party scene, Hilton Head is not your place. If you want to relax with your family, it is a great destination.

"First Time Visiting"
It is truly a breath of fresh air from the hype vacations you read about. The people are friendly and the weather is incredible! We were so impressed by the entire island, we immediately bought property there. It's not your mainstream vacation spot, which is probably why we liked it so. If you're semi-reclusive and enjoy peace, quiet and the finer things in life, visit Hilton Head Island - you won't want to leave.
