Repulsive Motel!
by TripAdvisor Member LisaJ
We rented three rooms for 14 people last week and I have never been so disgusted by a room in my life. The elevator floor is rusting away, the rooms smelled, the bathroom cabinet had dirt all over it, there was a electric outlet hanging out of the wall over a rusty old baseboard heater and there were several large burn holes on the curtains which were filthy. After complaing to a gentleman at the office he never offered any compensation and we were told that he could "check us out". Another person from our group complained and we were offered new rooms, a cleaning person to clean the ones we were in or our a full refund to check out . We chose to check out without ever unpacking our bags and went to a very nice resort further south that was actually lower in price. Beware! This is a disgusting place! It looks like the carpets have never been clean and they don't clean the hall carpets either. I would NEVER recommend this establishment.
Wasn't looking for a 5star resort!

I have stayed at the Bermuda Sands on a few occasions. It is not a five star hotel. However, it is beachfront property and the prices are darn good for that! If you wanted a five star motel, you should have checked out the more expensive rates at the other hotels. I have never had a problem with requesting more towels, or service. The hotel is older and probably could use some updating, but again, the prices are good and the motel really was okay.

i was impressed with this hotel. they had nice rooms. the maids were very polite and service was also good. beach was only feet away. right next to pier. the lazy river and indoor pool was great. i would definitly stay there again. i would recommend this hotel. GREAT RATES!!!!!
Yuck!!!!

This was the worst hotel that I have ever stayed in. Please do not let the pictures on the web site and in the Play and Stay book fool you. The rooms were very old and dirty. The outside of the hotel was also dirty and unkept. The rooms were also very small. They were also over priced and the service wasn't that great!!
Perfect for pets
by A TripAdvisor Member
We stayed at this hotel because it was pet-friendly. Some of the staff was friendly and others acted like they didn't want to be at work (but who usually gets excited about work?). The elevators were very stinky (like mildew) but it's the beach where people are always wet!! The hotel is definitely dated but it wasn't as bad as people have made it out to be unless they've re-modeled in the past. The lazy river was great but the indoor pool was a lot smaller than I expected! There was minimum "close" parking so we walked a lot to avoid moving the vehicle and losing our spot -the hotel staff did not tell us about all the parking areas at first! If they would just work on the elevator smell, the indoor pool and make sure the guests are advised of the parking areas it would be even better!!! I would stay there again in order to take my furry friends on vacation too!!!
Loved it the past 4 years

I've stayed at the Bermuda Sands every year for the past 4 years. No its not the Hilton, but its on the beach,6 blocks from the main pavilion,2 blocks from the Kings family Pavilion and right beside a fishing pier.
I always request a room with 2 beds and a kitchen and it comes with a private ocean front balcony. You get a discount if you are a return guest(must mention when making reservations). It also accepts pets now so Rover can go on vacation with you. The rooms are older but anytime I have had any complaints(A/C was on the fritz last year), they sent maintenance up right away to repair and I even got a fan because I'm used to sleeping with fan noise at home. No charge! You can't beat the location or the price. I've recommended it to others and they have been repeat customers also. Last year I never had to move my car once I parked it. Everything was within walking distance and we had taken our own groceries or ate at the small resturants along the shore or at the pier.
Doggy Poop

When we pulled onto the lot which wasn't easy because they do not have ample parking. You have to park across the street unless you see some one pull out and grab their spot. We were promised a room on one of the upper floors and they stuck us in the little beach house next door which my kids detested because we were isolated from the pool. The room was filthy. It looked like someone had just made the beds and didn't bothe to clean anything else. The next day they did move us to one of the upper rooms that they promised so that was good. This motel is doppy poop paradise. We didn't realize they accepted pets or we would have never stayed here. Out back where there could be a beautiful ocean side pool there was just a dog latrine. It was our worst vacation ever by far.
Felt guilty for bringing my kids here....

I took my daughters here for a week in June 2002, and from the postings here, nothing has changed. Very smelly, strong odor in elevator, like urine and musty. Room was oceanfront, badly needing an update. Odor was so bad in the room (MUSTY!!!) I actually went ot walgreen's to buy deodorizer, and you couldn't mask it. Poor kids coped, but we hated it there, we NEVER walked barefoot on their carpets. Please save yourself the grief and get a condo or stay with a reputable chain. read the reviews, that is why I am here now.
This Motel Ruined my vacation.

My family and I decided to take our vacation in Myrtle Beach. We wanted to find a nice motel at a reasonable price. So one of our family members referred us to Bermuda Sands because they had just stayed there a few weeks before we had planned on going. I was disappointed with this motel from the time I stepped in the door. Before I left, I had a page long of things that I disliked about the motel. For starters, I found hair on our "clean" towels, hair in the bath tub, and to top it all off I woke up the second night to find a big cock roach under my pillow. The top dresser drawer in the kids room was missing. The only thing I was pleased about was that I got to go to the beach and the kids had lots of fun in the lazy river. I do not recommend this motel to anyone. We spent almost $250 at that motel. When we returned home I got on to the person that referred us to this motel. I will never stay in another Bermuda Sands no matter where it is!
