Do you mean the Pawley's Island Pavilion?

The 4th Pavilion burned in 1970, but
there is Pavilion Reunion every spring.
This year is was May 12.

You can read all about it at

Travel Tips for Myrtle Beach

conviently located local brews

by richiecdisc about Liberty Steak House & Brewery

This is a typical chain brewpub so don't expect haute cuisine or award winning beers, but it's a great location at Myrtle Beach's Broadway on the Beach and given the other choices to eat, one of the better ones. It is a cavernous boisterous place with a festive atmosphere and waterfront location so no qualms there. The food as the name implies is chuck full of steaks and other typical pub grub. It's not generally my cup of tea but it goes well enough with the beer. We both opted for burgers topped with bacon, mushrooms, a blue cheese. The let us replace the fries with garlic mashed potatoes....yum. Prices are reasonable for burgers ($7-8) though steaks can be pricey. The beers were rather pedestrian though certainly not bad. The Nut Brown and Oatmeal Stout were passable, the IPA pretty tasty and I had a high octane barley wine that was a bit disappointing.

Myrtle Beach Welcomes You!

"My Visit"

We just returned (march 2008) from a relaxing trip to Myrtle Beach, SC. It is only about an 8 hour drive away from my town but this was my first time visiting.
The first day was a little chilly when we arrived and each night was chilly as well, but still 20+ degrees warmer than it was in Kentucky!
During the day it was in the mid-high 60's and was supposed to be in the 70's the day we went home. This was perfect time to visit because i do not think it was considered "In season" yet so we got a great rate on a hotel with a private balcony overlooking the ocean, the beaches were not crowded, neither were the pool and lazy river at the hotel, shops and restaurants did not have long lines or waits and they were all open until late. While the temperature wasn't high enough for swimming in my opinion, others were swimming! If i was to visit and recommend a time for others to visit I would defiantly say to go in March!!

"Things to Do"

Barefoot Landing----An array of shops/boutiques in a beautiful setting of an old fisherman village. This is also home of the Alabama Theater and the House of Blues if you would like to catch a show.

Broadway at the Beach--A lot of shopping to be done here, however, it seemed to have more entertainment going on than Barefoot Landing. There is a mini golf course here, along with Ripley's Aquarium, IMAX theater, A few amusement rides, Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood, jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, etc.

Ocean BLVD & Kings Highway--So many shops and restaurants!! A lot of the shops are surf/souvenir shops. Prices are very reasonable in these stores!!
Wings seems to be the shop with the best prices on souvenirs!

Mini Golf--There is a mini golf course almost on every corner!!! We chose to stop at Buccaneer Bay! With a coupon we were able to play unlimited games until 6PM for a total of $9!! And that is for 2 people!!!!!!!
The people at Buccaneer Bay were all SO friendly and helpful! This location is also very close to Broadway at the Beach as well

The Beach--Go swimming!! Sunbathe!!! Stroll along the beach and walk the pier!!! It really is beautiful!! We were lucky enough to see multiple dolphins swimming the day that we left!!

Sea Cruises--We did not do this but there are MANY different types of sea cruises/tours that you can do!! My friends recommend Capt Dicks dolphin cruise!

Ripley's--There is a Ripley's Aquarium, Believe it or Not Museum, Haunted Adventure, and the Super Fun Zone. We only did the Aquarium but if you are a Ripley's fan they have a lot of variety!!

Amusement Parks--You can catch a few rides, mainly kiddie rides over at Broadway at the Beach, there are also some rides at the Nostalgic park that was previously located on the BLVD. I know there is a roller coaster and a few other things. Most recently, Hard Rock park was built and now you can get behind the scenes looks for free, will be opening soon so make sure to check it out!!

"Tips & Things to Remember"

--Go to the visitor's center or another location of your choice to pick up coupons!
They end up saving you a lot!
We were able to get a free all day pass for mini golf this way!
Also used one at Del Sol to get a free tote bag, $20 value.
Saved $10 at the Ripley's Aquarium. Plus others!!!
--Don't forget your sunscreen!! Even on chilly days you can still get burned! I didn't remember the sunscreen and have a very bad sunburn on my neck and chest!
--Before making reservations somewhere do your homework!! Read reviews on here and on Trip Advisor, also make sure to compare rates at the hotel online site, call them and sometimes they offer different rates as well, and check on sites such as priceline, expedia, etc for the lowest prices!
By doing this I was able to get Oceanfront room with private balcony complete with sink, fridge, microwave, etc for only $39 a night
