Awesome find

Renting directly from condo owners is an awesome way to save money. We recently stayed at the Sands Ocean Club. We rented from 1st Choice Condos and saved literally hundreds of dollars. The resorts reservation desk offerred us $1925 for a 2BR before tax and fees. 1st Choice gave us the same type of unit at the same time for $1299 and the room was very clean and had an awesome view. We really loved the whole experience. Despite the actual building being a little bit older, they really kept it modern and nicely decorated. They had great live music, 2 nice pools, a full service Spa, 2 restaurants and it was close to everything we wnated to do in Myrtle Beach. There was even a Wal Mart a mile or so away. I just can't say enough about what a positive experience this was. But again, as long as they're offering the same product for less, I would encourage you to check out

More about Sands Ocean Club

Close 2 Everything/Great Place 2 Stay.

by TripAdvisor Member Sexydreaaa

This was our first time in Myrtle Beach, SC. We stayed @ Sands Ocean Club Resort 4nts.5days 7/19-23/06. We had a wonderful time. The hotel was nice; housekeeping could have been better. The bell hop men were very nice and friendly their the best people for info, on anything. There was no parking though if u leave. We rented a car from Enterprise. The hotel and pools are 2 crowded. Everything is open to the public. Myrtle Beach is a easy place to get around in and not alot of traffic. There are two major roads in MB 17 & Business 17. These roads take you two all the main attractions like Myrtle Waves, Nascar-Speedway Park, Outlets, Wal-mart and all resturants. Sands Ocean Club Resorts is a great place to stay; and i 2 read all the reviews and felt a little uneasy about the reviews. Stay Here.

Disgusting!!

by TripAdvisor Member sjm55

This was the worst hotel we've ever stayed in! The rooms looked nothing like the pictures on the internet. Upon reading reviews, we felt that the hotel would be the right choice for us with our two children! Wrong. Everything was filthy...the halls, elevators, room, balcony, pools, and beach entry way. There was trash all over the place and we found old food on the floor in our room. The pool had so much junk floating in it that I wouldn't let my kids swim in it. We went to the indoor pool, but the water was so dirty and cloudy that I wouldn't allow them to swim in that either. We were so disgusted with the entire resort that we cancelled our stay there and fortunately were able to get a room at the Ocean Drive Beach Club. This place was clean and child friendly. I would NEVER recommend the Sands Ocean Club to anyone...not even my worst enemy. YUCK!!!!!

great bar service

by A TripAdvisor Member

20 guys from scotland over on holiday had a great time after 3 visits in 6 years some upgrade of rooms would be good the staff that work in bar are great and good fun rochelle and (stacy) mean tracy only kidding you both made our holiday thank you both very much also ocean annies what a singer that band are hot

Ocean Annies will keep you up at night!!!

by TripAdvisor Member cashonly

The first thing you have to know is that this place is TOO LOUD!!! They have a beach bar there called Ocean Annies with a live band from 1pm to 11pm. The problem is that you could hear the band in our room!!! During the day, it wasn't an issue, but if you have anyone in your party that wants to go to sleep before 11pm, FORGET IT!!! It was so loud, that even with all the doors and windows of our unit closed, it was so loud that we had to crank up the TV when we wanted to hear it. We stayed on the ocean side of the building which is where the band is, but even when we walked in thru the front, you could still hear the band. And they play every day of the week (there are actually two bands).

If it weren't for the band, I'd have no problem recommending the place and would probably go back. The room was OK, clean, well kept. The pool was fine, a little on the smallish side and only 5 feet deep. They have an indoor pool, but I don't think it was heated. They also have 2 good sized hot tubs. They also have a lazy river which was a lot of fun and it's warmer than the pool (I think because it's shallower).

They had a decent restaurant with sandwiches, burgers, salads, really quite a collection, right next to the pool and it was open for lunch and dinner and pretty cheap. We ate there twice. They also have a morning buffet restauratn which we didn't try.

There were plenty of lounge chairs among all the decks, so seating was no problem even on memorial day weekend.

The people were friendly and they had a kids club which had a full day of activities for kids which was nice.

If it weren't for the loud band until 11pm, I'd recommend the place and probably rate it with 4 dots.

Great time, bad hotel, but room was great.

by TripAdvisor Member mdbruemmer

The room was a private romo that is not rented to the public. It was amazing and the view was great.

The hotel was OK. The elevators we always broken or they felt like they were going to break. The decor looks like it was all bought at some cheap outlet. The charis by the elevator look lik they belong in a castle, not in a beach resort. People who worked for the hotel were very rude. The door people were the only nice people. THe people at the counter werre rude, very rude.

There is no parking. Whenever you leave there is not place to park when you come back. There is a parking garage accross the street, but that is where most of the employees park. Then the shuttle the guest .5 miles up the street to a parking lot. It makes more sense to me to have the employees shuttled in and leave the parking at the hotel for the guests.

The restraunts we also very good. The buffet was great for breakfast and river city cafe was tops.

The beach is nice, but thesand has crushed up shells in it making it hard to walk on. I heards this is because the beach got washed away during one of the hurricanes so the brought the sand up from the ocean. The indoor and out pool are great. If you get to the pool anytime after 9:00 am you will not have a seat.

Ocean Annie's was also a blast. Great music and good drinks, except for the Natural Light.

After going to this hotel, I would go back, but I would expect some changes. The elevators have got to be a health risk. We were waitng all week for them to fall down. Also, they need tile in the elevators, so the carpet doesn't get wet an mildew. Sometimes it was almost unbearable in the elevator.

Nothing like the pictures, horrible

by A TripAdvisor Member

I was so exited about our vacation and then I saw the room that they first gave us. It was horrible, the room was so small, the stove looked like it came over on the ark, the refrigerator was rusted and didnt have a bottom cover and the air conditioner had naked wires hanging out of it. I went straight down stairs and told them that I was not staying in that room. After about half an hour of standing there and crying because I was so frustrated they sent us to the Sands Tower and gave us a 3 bedroom suite. It was alot better but the walls were scuffed up and it was not as clean as it should be. The only thing that was great about this resort was the water park, it was pretty cool. I will never stay there again though. We decided to stay a couple of extra days and we stayed at the Caravelle Resort down the street in the St. Clements building and it was awesome. I would stay there anytime.

Stay away if you have children

by TripAdvisor Member drpc12

If you have children, or are looking for a relaxing vacation, this resort may not be the place for you. We returned from a 7 night stay and were disturbed at the level of noise, alcohol, and crowdiness of the resort. Yelling and cursing from the balconies at all hours of the day and night!!! Called front desk, and nothing done!!! Lots of people drinking and becoming intoxicated and riding the elevators and walking through the halls at all hours of the night!! We did not feel safe.!

Room was not that great! Water temperature in the shower was either freezing cold or scalding hot!!!

We have stayed here in the past, but felt there was too much rowdiness, alchohol, and lack of security at this hotel. Never again!!!!!!!!!!!!
