Just a Little North
"Boom Town"
North Charleston might become known as South Carolina's most notable "Boom Town." Incorporated in June 1972, North Charleston had a population of 21,000 and an area of seven square miles. Since that time, the city has tripled its population to over 85,000 and now encompasses more than 73 square miles. Constant growth makes it easy to see why North Charleston has become South Carolina's third largest municipality.
"On Business"
North Charleston worked great for me as I was there a week on business - but if you're going on holiday, then rethink staying down near the historic district if you don't have a car. This city can be a real hassle to travel around unless you get a bus pass or pay outrageous fees for a taxi. And getting to see some of the more "touristy" type things is almost out of the question unless your hotel offers a shuttle service.
