Stop and Smell the Roses
"The Rose Festival in Orangeburg, South Carolina"
We drove over to Orangeburg to see the roses the day before the festival opened. That morning Orangeburg had a severe thunderstorm and quite a few of the roses were damaged. Many of the blooms that were big became so heavy from the rain and wind they snapped off.
We were glad we came when we did though because many of the roses were spent. Some of the days in April had been unusually warm and the roses responded by blooming ahead of schedule for the show.
