A hidden treasure

People often wonder why such a luxurious hotel is located in sleepy Summerville, but I say it's a welcome surprise. Summerville used to be the spa town for rich Charlestonians trying to escape the coastal heat, and the Woodlands continues the tradition.

This small hotel is located in a brick mansion from the early 1900s, and is just outstanding in every way. It was rated the #1 Rated Hotel for Service in the Continental US and #5 in the World in Travel + Leisure Magazine's 2005 Readers Survey.

Lovely for weddings and special occasions.

The Woodlands is a lovely, small secluded inn, and it is well known for its Dining Room, which is the only five star, five diamond restaurant in the state of South Carolina. (You won't even find one of those in neighboring downtown Charleston, about 24 miles away) It has justly won all kinds of awards for its food and service. The wine list is outstanding and the food is so delicious.

(I can't believe I'm the first to post about this restaurant! Destination dining at its best.) Anything here is good. With a five course meal, you're sure to sample something that knocks your socks off.
