I spent a whole school year there, lived with a family, went to school there, met beautiful people and learnt a lot about other people and myself. I met my girlfriend Letty there, a friend for a lifetime. We met in 1974 in Mrs. Allen's Geometry class, became friends, saw eachother again in 1980 in Walhalla, S.C. and then in 1999, when Letty came over to Germany to be in my wedding!!!
I was a highschool exchange student with Youth for Understanding in 1974/75
and lived in Walterboro, S.C. for one year.
That is quite an experience for a 16 year old girl to fly to another continent and be part of a family in a country with a different language, a different culture and people who you don't really know yet... But I really enjoyed this experience and would not want to miss it one bit.
In 1980 I returned for a short visit and that is when I got the only few pictures of my temporary home town! And this second visit being more than 20 years ago as well might explain the poor quality of the pix - but I hope you don't mind!
