Comfort Inn and Suites: Surprising For a Comfort Suites

In California, Comfort Inn and Suites are hit and miss, with miss being a lot more prevalent.

This is one of the three nicest Comfort Inns I have ever stayed at. The hotel is located on Fairmont Boulevard slightly outside of the City. It is close to the Rapid City Regional Hospital. There is another Comfort Inn and Suites in town and some folks get them confused.

When we checked in the front desk went out of their way to make us feel like we were special. The room was spacious and very clean. The beds were comfortable and the shower worked great. There was a view looking out of our window down on the City. At night the room was quiet even though the hotel was close to being full.

The pool was immaculate. The exercise room was good as well.

Breakfast was a nice surprise. There was a wide assortment of hot and cold items including fresh fruit, omlettes. waffles, biscuits, oatmeal etc. Staff in the breakfast area were also very friendly.

Exceptionally clean and nice. Very friendly front lobby staff.

The game lodge: Custer state park resort company

The Game lodge as it's called has not only motel rooms, but modern log cabins and camping. The rooms are basic, but always clean. The rates are average for the area as are all of the lodges in custer state park.

The Game lodge has some history. It was used by U.S. president Calvin Coolidge as the western white house. The lodge has several reasons to visit. There is a resturaunt and lounge. The food is excellent. The lounge is quaint. Staying here gives you a central location for the Black hills.

The Custer State Game...

The Custer State Game Lodge

The Game Lodge in Custer State Park is my accomodations pick for South Dakota. Once a Summer White House of US President Calvin Coolidge, the Lodge sits amid wide green lawns and Ponderosa pine trees not far from Sylvan Lake, one of the prettiest lakes anywhere. The food in the restaurant is excellent -- try the Rainbow Trout -- and make sure you get a room in the main building and not in one of the newer annexes that have been built.
I don't know what the current price is exactly, but my guess would be between $75 and $150 depending on the room.
