We considered a lot of places...
We considered a lot of places before we ended up with the Holiday Inn
Express in Deadwood. Once there, we discovered that with few exceptions (The Bullock Hotel and the Franklin among them), most of the places we had looked at were waaaay out of town. The Holiday Inn is brand new and smack dab in the center of town, and it looks great.
$89 to $99, with suites available for more.
Unique Quality: The hotel is one of the newest things in town, opening in the fall of 1999 after a 100-year-old building burned down. But since the entire town is a historical landmark, the outside of the building matches the style of the rest of the town. Inside, however, has all the modern comforts.
Continental breakfast and free parking, which means a lot in this town. And fantastic service, which means a lot.
