The absolute MUST see of this...
by charlize
The absolute MUST see of this city is definately Mount Rushmore. But on your way there, there are so many off the side of the road activities, you will find plenty for the family. Born and raised in North Dakota, the flattest state ever! South Dakota was breath-taking and I fell in love instantly with the landscape, scenery, monuments, site-seeing, etc. Driving through South Dakota was beautiful. That alone is a great memory.
The Badlands
by keehotee
This is a stretch of rough, heavily eroded, stark terrain in the midst of South Dakota's prairies. There is more here than the badlands, however, including fossils, wildlife including antelopes, hares, and rattlesnakes, buffalo ranches, tepees, etc
The Black Hills

"Bear Country"
A three mile drive thru a wildlife park that has bears, mountain lions, timber and arctic wolves, buffalo, reindeer elk, and more.
Something else to see in the Black Hills besides Mount Rushmore and Crazy Horse. My kids really enjoyed driving this close to bears and really had a thrill when one sauntered up to our car.
