Camp near Deerfield. Pack your warm clothes, even in summer. Others: drive Nemo Road (not as touristy), swim at Evans Plunge in Hot Springs (huge pool fed by warm spring), go to a rodeo (several to choose from). Picture is of pronghorn seen from the Wildlife Loop in Custer State Park.
This Museum is located on the campus of the SD School of Mines and Technology has a large collection of fossils and minerals and a few Dinosaur Skeletons. Admission is free. Hours are Mon-Sat 8-6, and Sunday from 12-6:00.
Rapid City is at the eastern edge of South Dakota's Black Hills. Within the Black Hills you'll find caves, forested mountains, gambling, and to the east, the Badlands. Mt Rushmore is of course the most famous monument in the Black Hills.
