Wife booked rooms before I checked the net, their price was double the internet price, called them to see if they would honor the net price, they said to bad no help. Dont let them get into your pocket, book on LaQuintas website and save alot.
I reserved 3 nights at this La Quinta two months in advance of our vacation. Upon arrival, the room price doubled for the second night and nearly tripled for the third. The room was large, clean and decent for a family of 4, but rather overpriced in my opinion.
It is decently located for driving to all the attractions in the area and the continental breakfast was well stocked with plenty of options for kids and adults.
We only used the attached indoor waterpark one night... $15 per person (the discounted rate), only to find that the kids play area was shut down and only 2 of the slides were operating. The "lifeguards", with the exception of one young lady were inattentive, one fully dressed in street-clothes and tennis shoes. Not exactly looking prepared to come to the rescue. Complete rip-off.
Unique Quality: The most redeeeming qualities of this place were the breakfast and the fact that it is located on a long dead-end street where you can go for a long run without dealing with traffic since the exercise room only has one treadmill.
We flew into Rapid city to start our tour of North and South Dakota. This place is a long way from the airport, but there is a shuttle that will take you to the LaQuinta if you are staying there for the night. LaQuinta will pay for the shuttle. We used Enterprise Car Rental which was about 3 miles away. Enterprise came to the LaQuinta to deliver our car to us. By planning ahead and using a car rental that is not at the airport we saved a lot of money. We used the LaQuinta the last night of our trip and they took us back to the airport the next morning.
Our check in was quick and efficient - the good size room and bathroom were clean. There was a fridge and microwave in the room. Shampoo and soap was provided but no lotion or hair conditioner. There were plenty of electrical outlets in the room and all the lightbulbs worked. We never did locate a TV station guide to help us find the TV channels. There was only one computer in the business room, but we were able to print our boarding passes our last night there with no problem.
Breakfast included make your own waffles - they also had boiled eggs, assorted juices, 3 kinds of cold cereal, instant oatmeal, and fresh oranges and apples. They also had bagels, bread for toast and sweet rolls but no microwave to warm anythig up.
The water park has a fee but there was no fee to use the big hot tub. They had towels in the pool area. It was a fun place to enjoy a soak and I'm sure it's a great place to visit during a South Dakota winter. We would stay there again. Our first stay was $84.04 and our last night was $64.51 - these were Senior's rates.
Unique Quality: This LaQuinta has a good size water park which was a lot of fun.
