"Convenient overnight stopping place..."
Sioux Falls may well be much more than an excellent place in which to spend the night on the way to some place else, but that is the only way I know it.
My wife and I have stopped there on at least three occasions as an overnight stop on our road trips. It is an easy day's drive from Kansas City on Interstate 29, has excellent motels and restaurants, and the city park located at the falls on the Big Sioux River makes for a nice place to stretch your legs and get some air after a long day in the car, and before turning in at night.
The park is a popular gathering place in the evening. Besides the falls and the grassy fields, there is an open air theatre. This view is toward the downtown area from a viewing tower below the falls.
