Moving to Bristol... on a temporarily suspended license..
by bekaness
So through some BS and missed mailings because of an EX BF i ended up with a temporarily suspended license. My suspension starts on the 2nd(ends on the 2nd of Sept). I have to drive my car(a focus), packed pretty full with bike rack on the back(covering a bit of my license plate) through three states. I tried to keep the rear view window as clear as possible so that I don't get pulled over in VA (because having the rear window covered with things is a pull-overable offense in VA) Yea... i'm a poor college student who doesn't have a credit card so I don't really have a choice in driving my car with all my belongings in one car load.
SO!! Here's my actual question.
I don't really have a choice on driving or not. If I do get pulled over, is my suspension traceable through all the states? My license is originally in Michigan. I'll get arrested if I get pulled over :( if it is. I haven't really been able to find any evidence for or to the contrary. Please assist.

I am an attorney practicing in New York state. A computer check will reveal that your license has been suspended in your home state. In the other 49 states, you don't have a license, but you do have a privilege to drive. Suspensions ARE transferable from state to state, so you will show up suspended in the states through which you're traveling. You MAY be arrested by the officer, or, if you're lucky, you won't be arrest, but your car will be impounded, to be released only to a driver with a valid license. And you are attracting attention by packing the car to the roof, so that any cop can observe that your driver's view is obstructed! and your license plate is also partially obstructed, which gives a cop a second reason to stop and inquire. Why don't you pay the tickets, now, so that you can legally drive? Or get a friend to drive you? As an attorney, I cannot advise you to drive while you are suspended.

ah, OK, your suspension has already been set, and you are fully aware of it. If you get into an accident, even if you are not at fault, your carrier will not pay for damages. And if it IS your fault, you will be arrested, and be held personally liable for personal injury and property damages. "Some BS and missed mailings because of an ex BF" is NOT a defense! Can you find a friend, or even pay someone, to do your driving? It will be alot cheaper than the alternative.

Packing List

Make sure you pack comfortable shoes because the walk from the parking lots to the track are very long. One good thing about this track is that you are allowed to bring in your own coolers of beer. The bad things is carrying them around all day.
