The Food City 500 is part of the Nextel Cup Series where NASCAR holds two of its races each year. One a daytime race, which my daughter and husband attended. The other a nighttime race in August. The Bristol track is a .8 mile track and furnishes an exciting non-stop action packed race. "Thunder Valley" and "The Soup Bowl of Racing" are just two of the names it is known as.
It was a 2 hour drive from Gatlinburg to Bristol for them. However, the return trip was a bit different with the traffic.
