Point Park BAttefield by BruceDunning
This is not actually a battlefield as much as a defensive point for the CSA-Confederate States of America to defend the mountain during the attack by Rosecrans of the North. It had entrenchments for about a dozen cannon to be able to fire in all directions. The defense was of not much use and later moved toward Chickamauga. This is a US Park Service operation. The site is not a lot to see now. Some history and painting/mural is also in the Parks Service building. The overview from here is fabulous. They show the trenches, but a lot has been moved from the original defenses. Close by is Cravens House for tours, but it is closed in the fall through winter. The area is 3,000 acres and expansive. Admission is $3.00.
