A little bit of England

by 807Wheaton about The English Rose Tea Room

This tea house is across the street from the Holiday Inn - Chattanooga Choo Choo.
The decor is definitely British - lots of teapots on display.
We had lunch there and defnitely felt it was a special place to enjoy some time.

condos downtown

by chercat

Hi
I am looking for some information about some condos I found online at 900 Mountain Creek Rd.

They look nice and the location , near the riverfront, looks awesome and the price is amazing .

I am just wondering if this is a safe area ? I can hardly believe it would be for the price . I am thinking of buying something in a warmer climate for retirement and these look ideal .

Any advice appreciated.

RE: condos downtown

by soundsgoodtome

Hi, i know exactly where these condos are being built, although i'm not sure if they're completely finished now or not. They are located on top of a small ridge just overlooking downtown from the north side of the river, and yes, this is a very safe place to be. In fact, these are practically at the foot of Signal Mountain, which is the #2 place to live in town, after Lookout Mountain. I don't know the cost but most other new condos I've seen downtown typically range between $300,000-500,000. Perhaps they just seem cheap compared to the real estate prices in the Northeast that you are used to seeing. But I assure you, this is an excellent location in all respects.

Travel Tips for Chattanooga

Hanggliding off Lookout Mountain

by anderschwan

The Lookout Mountain Flight Park will teach you to Hangglide (you can ride tandem) if you dare. It is located in Rising Fawn, GA close to Chattanooga. There's no way on God's Green Earth that I would ever do it, but my friends have and they seemed to enjoy it. I would have to wear a Depend because heights are definitely not for me. But maybe someday I will try it.

Lookout Mountain

Chattanooga has a number of interesting tourist attractions, with Lookout Mountain being the most popular. The sprawling mountain is a series of attractions, some more touristy and others more historical. For more information, feel free to visit my Lookout Mountain page.

The Chattanooga Choo Choo

by Stephen-KarenConn

The Chattanooga Choo Choo is the name of an actual train which ran from Cincinnati to Chattanooga, beginning in 1880, offering the first through passenger service to the South. This little steam engine was dubbed the Chattanooga Choo Choo by a newspaper reporter and later made famous by a 1941 Glenn Miller song, which became the music industry's first ever gold record. Alas, the last passenger train pulled out of the magnificant old Chattanooga Terminal Station on August 11, 1970. Today the Chattanooga Choo Choo, is a 24-acre vacation complex with restaurants, shops, gardens, a Model Railroad Museum, trolly rides and more. The entrance to the old Terminal Station, with its impressive free-standing 85-foot dome, is now the lobby of a Holiday Inn.

Every time I visit the Chattanooga Choo Choo, and I have done so dozens of times, I find myself remembering the wide-eyed excitement of coming here as a little boy. It was a bustling terminal then, with up to 68 trains arriving and departing daily. I came with my parents to pick up Grandmother Minor who often traveled by train from Decatur, Alabama to visit us. It was a noisy beehive of activity then, with hissing steam engines and clamoring crowds of people coming and going.

The Choo Choo is quieter now, but it can still be a lively place, and one that every visitor to Chattanooga should experience.
