Riverfront Visitor Center
by Stephen-KarenConn
Next to the Tennessee Aquarium on the riverfront is a very spacious and modern Visitor Center, and fifteen minutes of free parking are provided in front. At the Center you will find info. about area attractions, events, discounted tickets and helpful tips on planning your trip around Chattanooga. There is much more to see and do than I have on my pages, but I hope to add more as I make return visits to Chattanooga and take more pictures. Just a few of the interesting things to do, for which I do not yet have tips, include:
Chickamauga-Chattanooga National Military Park
The Confederama
IMAX 3D Theater
Chattanooga Regional History Museum
Chattanooga African American Museum
Creative Discovery MuseumBluff View Art District
Chattanooga Lookouts Baseball
Chattanooga Nature Center

Canoe the Sequatchie
by anderschwan
Canoeing. If you are new to it then this is the place to try it. Canoe the Sequatchie rents canoes so you can paddle through some of the prettiest riverside country in Tennessee. It advertises "Gentle Thrills" - and is a wonderful way to see what Southeast TN is really like.
Excellent Local Cuisine
by soundsgoodtome about Southside Grill
The Southside Grill is an upscale, unique restaurant in the trendy, growing Southside area of downtown with many great culinary choices. My first and only experience here was great, and I will hopefully go back one day. Choose to dine inside or out, you will not be disappointed either way. The outdoor patio is covered and there is a small garden with native wildflowers and shrubs separating you from the entrance. The inside is very elegant with candles at every table and formal artwork on the walls. This is a great restaurant for couples, but not for kids. Open for dinner and lunch. Reservations not required but are a good idea for dinner. I had the fish of the day, grouper, with roasted tomatoes and jasmine rice. Everything was very good, with the right amount and variety of spices. My girlfriend ordered the quail, which is wrapped in bacon and grilled. The unique taste is one I will not forget, and I would definitely recommend it for anyone who likes well-cooked meat. It was served with rice cakes and asparagus. For dessert I had key lime pie, which was good, but probably not worth the $6 per piece unless you're celebrating a very special occasion. They also serve coffee roasted by Greyfriar's, a great complement to dessert. Entrees between $14-$25, with salad and soup $5. Check out the menu on their website.
Tennessee River Boat
by davecallahan
The Southern Belle is a Tennessee River paddle-wheel boat that rides out of Chattanooga, TN.
You can take a minimum of 90 minute sightseeing cruise, a 2-hour lunch or 3-hour dinner cruise or a 2-hour moonlight ride (if you are in that mood). You can reserve special cruises for yourself or your group at premium prices. (see the website below for details).
The boat is a newly refurbished, rear-paddle model that rides smoothly. The views along the river banks are interesting especially on the evening cruise.
You'll probably only be touring this area once in your life, so spend the $20 and have a cruise to remember.
This company also has a stationary river boat anchored at Pier 2 which has the gift shop and a second deck that can be rented for parties and special events.
Creative Discovery Museum
by dainec
This is a children's museum with lots of neat things to see and do. Our kids were kept busy for most of the day! Many hands-on activities, including a water play area. (Wheels, tubes, etc. with water rushing through them.)
