More than a military town
"Supporting Fort Campbell"
Fort Campbell is one of the larger US military installations. That being said, it is no surprise that the base has a large influence on Clarksville neighborhoods, businesses and way of life. As a soldier, I could not ask for a better local community than Clarksville, TN. The low cost of living allows a majority of soldiers to own homes, afford local entertainment, and to reduce stress at home from contemplating how to pay the bills. The citizens and local government in Clarksville are also very loving toward their troops. Although there are businesses that seem to prey on young soldiers with cash, most of the Clarksville businesses support the troops through discounts and a friendly smile. The city also honors their troops at various city functions such as the Rivers and Spires Festival.
