  • nice hotel

We stayed in a standard 2 queen bed room with city view. Size of the room a little small, could not imagine 4 adults in the room being very comfortable. It was very clean, very nice decor, good mattresses, pillows a little flat. Great size refrigerator and television. Your USA newspaper is outside your door in the morning. Continental breakfast very clean, and food was very good. Service extremely professional (almost to a non friendly state) , but still most attentive. The pool is in the parking lot behind the hotel, its enclosed and very nice, but is a nice little walk to get there. If you have city view you can hear car sounds all through out the night. If you like to sleep in the cleaning maids are very loud. You might as well use the safe in the room they charge you 1.50 a day for it. I am not sure I'd stay again, a little to close to the noise for me.

  • Worth the money.

If you want to be in the heart of things, this is the place to stay. If you get a City View room you can see all that Gatlinburg as to offer. The Honeymoon suite is wonderful as well as the other rooms, great service, and nice friendly staff.

Unique Quality: The View is a must have, Great heaterd indoor pool. Right smack in downtown.

    Directions: Downtown Gatlinburg

great location

Stayed for 3 nights in July 2004. Nice rooms, good price off the internet. Staff was wonderful and hotel is in walking distance to everything. Located at light 10 so things are not so noisy. Location right by the entrance to the Smokey Mountains and by-pass to Pigeon Forge (recommend this as traffic going through Gatlinburg can be VERY congested)
Would stay again.

Best Hotel in Gatlinburg

by A TripAdvisor Member

I decided to plan a vacation for my wife and I to Gatlinburg. The problem with Gatlinburg is that here are so many hotels in the area. Picking the perfect hotel was very hard. Without a doubt, the Clarion Inn & Suites is the nicest hotel in Gatlinburg. I was greeted by very nice people upon checking in. The best part about the hotel is its location in Gatlinburg. The city is very small. Most of the hotels are located on the very busy part of the strip. The Clarion Inn & Suites is located on a very quite section of the main street. There are 4 or 5 streets running parallel to the main street.

When you exit the front doors of the Clarion Inn & Suites you are directly on the sidewalk. All the hotels say that everything in gatlinburg is in a walking distance. Some attractions are, but you are going to have to walk a very long distance. What's good about the Clarion is most of the attractions are very close. Right across the street from the Clarion Inn & Suites is Ober Gatlinburg, one of the best attractions in Gatlinburg. Right next door to the hotel is a very nice restaurant. I could walk to the three Ripley's Believe it or Not Museum's within 5 minutes.

The Clarion Inn's rooms are not the biggest rooms in Gatlinburg. The room size was perfect for my wife and I. The beds are very comfortable and the rooms are very clean. My friends stayed at the Holiday Inn down the street. They had a horrible experience. They had a huge problems with bugs, but that's an entire different story. The Clarion as I mentioned is in a very quiet location. A lot of hotels in Gatlinburg overlook the river. The Clarion overlooks the mountains. I loved stepping out on the balcony overlooking the beautiful scenery. Make sure when you book your reservation to ask for a room in the FRONT of the hotel. The rooms in the back do not have any sort of view.

We had an excellent experience at the Clarion Inn. Our room was very quiet and enjoyed a free breakfast in the morning. They had a deluxe continental breakfast with some hot foods. Nothing special, I would recommend going to the Pancake Pantry a few blocks down for a full delicious breakfast.

To wrap things up, if you are considering going to Gatlinburg, make sure you stay at this hotel. Its location, price, clean rooms, very nice staff, and quiet location makes this hotel one of the best ones in the area.

Great Hotel...Good Location

For my wife's birthdays, as well as back to school shopping, we recently made our annual trek to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge. Based upon trip advisor comments, we thought we would try the Clarion. The Clarion hotel was great.

I ordered flowers for my wife's birthday and the hotel staff made sure they were in the room waiting for her. The front desk staff was excellent. We had a minor maintenance issue, and the problem was fixed within an hour, and the maintenance person was very friendly too.

The continental breakfast is above average based upon other hotels I have stayed at. The basic room and balcony are on the small side, but the rooms were clean, well appointed (nice bathroom, microfridge, tv, chair and ottoman). I'll take clean over spacious any time. Convenient hotel parking is located behind the hotel. The rooms are a little light at night, due to built in blinds in the balcony patio door that don't block all of the light, and every time someone in the hall would slam their door, our door would make a slight ajar noise, but these were minor items. Overall, we could not hear noise from rooms beside or over us.

The breakfast area is small; however, when you consider the volume of tourists, it would not make economic sense to have a larger area. Several guests in the breakfast area were rude, for instance, there was one gentleman who was there for a UMWA conference (he had on an identifying shirt and the conference was posted in the elevator), who used an entire table for 6 by spreading out his newspaper, while families stood around and waited for a table. However, the breakfast personnel were very accomodating and nice.

The elevators and hallways are warm, so extra air conditioning in these areas would be an improvement. If you want to stay downtown, but in a quieter area, then this is your hotel. The walk from the main downtown area to the hotel is not that bad. I would recommend the Clarion for value and quality of staff.

Good Location. Not Clean.

I recently stayed at the Clarion Inn. I come to Gatlinburg once a year and recently I have been staying at the Clarion. The hotel is located near the park and the restaurants. I choose the hotel for the location. My room was okay except for the infestation of lady bugs on ceiling. There must have been 100's of them. I have stayed at this hotel before and had the same problem. The lady bugs for the most part stay on the ceiling. I would prefer if hotel could solve problem and not have lady bugs. The front desk will get rid of lady bugs, but they return. The morning breakfast buffet which is included is nice. I will probably stay at this hotel again because of the location, but I would be pleased if the lady bugs were not there.

Would recommend the Clarion

I brought our AllStar Cheerleading team to Gatlinburg for a competition Dec. 17-19. Some parents stayed in cabins and some of us stayed at the Clarion. We loved being on the main strip. We were close to everything and the view is terrific (if you have a room on the street side). Our parents who rented cabins were stranded on the mountain when the roads began to ice over.

The rooms at the Clarion were nice and very clean. I travel a lot, so I've learned to check the housekeeping by noticing the base of the toilet and the area under the sink. We were unable to get a non-smoking room on the street side, so we accepted the smoking room. You could not even tell that anyone had ever smoked in the room. The staff placed ionizers in the room prior to our arrival. Everything was nice and fresh! The beds were on the FIRM side, as is the case in most hotels. Housekeeping quickly responded to our request for additional pillows. The refrigerator and microwave were a nice touch. A small store was located across the street which offered the few items we needed. We were able to keep drinks cold. We had a double room for our family of three, which was adequate. However, the suites did seem very inviting, especially for couples. The lobby and breakfast area provided a meeting spot for our team members and parents, along with a cozy fire. The staff was most accomodating, which can be difficult when dealing with teams of children and teens! In addition to our group, the hotel was also hosting a wedding. Everyone in both groups seemed well pleased with this hotel. The computer area in the lobby attracted the teens in our group. Hot chocolate and coffee was available in the lobby at all times. This was especially nice after coming in from our first snow experience! The hotel salted the sidewalks to help with slipping. Some businesses did not do this, so walking was quite treacherous.

We saw no bugs in any of our rooms. The pool area was nice, but we were unable to use it more than once because it closed before we were able to return to the hotel.

Restaurants, shopping and attractions are very close to the hotel. You can walk a far distance from the hotel without realizing it because there is so much to see. The city does seem to shut down quite early. The streets were deserted by 10:00 PM. Shops had closed hours before that. Restaurants and a few nightclubs seemed to be the only entrertainment available after 10:00 PM.

Ober Gatlinburg is very convenient to the hotel. Skiing and ice skating are the main activities at this site. I would recommend a play area for children and adults to build snowmen and have snowball fights. We had to use the parking area for this fun!

I plan to return to the Clarion for a family trip next winter! We hope it snows again!

Our top choice for Gatlinburg hotels

by TripAdvisor Member taltmayer

We have vacationed several times in Gatlinburg and the Clarion is our #1 choice because they have 1 BR suties with a nice balcony with view and our kids like the pool. The beds are comfortable, and this is not easy to find in most gatlinburg hotels/motels. The only other place we can rate as highly is the Bearskin lodge in Gatlinburg, but they don't have the suites like the Clarion does. The Clarion does a decent job on breakfast but as others have said it is quite crowded. We prefer to go to the Burning Bush anyway for breakfast, which is just across the street. The staff is very nice, however we did have issues with housekeeping (they skipped us one day that we were there) but this did not really bother us too bad. Our room was clean and comfortable, and we loved the location of the Clarion because it was right by the bypass and we could either walk to anywhere in town or drive to Pidgeon Forge to see the Dixie Stampede (excellent dinner show choice). We also enjoyed Bennet's BBQ.

Great Hotel Expierence !!!!

by A TripAdvisor Member

From beginning till the end a GREAT EXPIERENCE! We stayed in one of the really big rooms upstairs on the 7th floor which we thought at $300 per night was really expensive, but after getting into this gigantic room we where more than pleased. Very clean rooms and a very professional and friendly staff. breakfast was more than expected, pool was nice, exercise room could use updating. Next time we plan to bring less people and stay in a smaller room which the staff let us check out before we left. Also gave us their web site ------- which includes a neat little video that the clerk was bragging about. WORTH EVERY PENNY!
