Pizza
by vhasouth about The Best Italian Pizza
This is what appears to be a little hole in the wall. Short of eating pizza in Chicago, an extremely pleasant experience. When they say large pizza...they mean LARGE. Everything is fresh. Have eaten there on numerous trips. The kids always beg to go there.
"Best Ribs in America"
by Stephen-KarenConn about Calhouns of Gatlinburg
Calhouns of Gatlinburg is one of seven Calhouns restaurants in the area, headquartered in Knoxville, TN. We enjoy the ambiance of this restaurant with a big mill wheel at the entrance and large tree shaded windows in the dining room looking out over the Parkway. Both the food and service are consistently very good. Calhouns is famous for their barbecue ribs. In 1984, at a national cook-off in Cleveland, Ohio, Calhoun's ribs were proclaimed the "Best Ribs in America." However, on our most recent visit to Calhouns we had just come off a trail in the Smokies that led beside a rushing, cold, clear trout stream, and we celebrated the end of our seven mile hike by ordering the fresh rainbow trout. It was exceptionally good, with creamy cole slaw and a loaded baked potatoe. I was so dehydrated from our hike that I washed it down with four huge glasses of freshly brewed iced tea - satisfying and refreshing.
Museums
by HotRodEtte
Downtown Gatlinburg has tons of museums. There are 7 Ripley's attractions in all, and you can buy packages where you save more money depending on how many attractions you purchase. We went to the Aquarium and the Believe it or Not museum, both of which you can take all the photos you like. They also have the Haunted Adventure, the Moving Theater, Mirror Maze and 2 Putt-Putt golf courses (Davy Crockett and Old McDonald). We played 36 holes at the Old McDonald range. It was a nice course, with a farm theme and background, talking animal displays and props.
We also went to the Hollywood Wax Museum (not a Ripley's attraction). This was an interactive one where we could pose with the figures.
