Travel Tips for Gatlinburg

Free booklets

by monica71

Brochures for tourists are free and plenty in Gatlinburg. Stop by one of the places/booths that have them on display and get as much information as you want about the area, places to stay, shows, attractions, etc.

Emerts Cove Covered Bridge

by 807Wheaton

Emerts Cove is in the small community of Pittman Center. Emerts Cove Covered Bridge spans the MIddle Prong of the Little Pigeon River, in Pittman Center which is NE of Gatlinburg.
Frederick Emert, of German descent, was a soldier in the American Revolution. He and his wife Barbara Ann settled in this cove after the war and lived their life here.
This bridge was built in 2000 as a remembrance to the values of mountain life.
The tilt of the roof, the shakes on the roof all reflect the local traditions of the surrounding area.

Great Food/ Ice Cold Beverages

by EarlyTimes2000 about Bennetts

Bennets is a great place to take your family. The service is great, waiters/waitresses are very friendly. The food is outstanding, and they brag about having ice cold beverages. Everything is wonderful, but the barbequed pork or beef sandwiches are outstanding. Pair this up with an ice cold ( and I mean cold!) beer and it is a wonderful experience.

Great Italian Food!

by 807Wheaton about Gondolier Italian Restaurant & Pizza

The Gondolier Italian Restaurant could easily be missed if you weren't looking for it. It's on a side of a mini-mall by the grocery store outside Gatlinburg. Inside it has wall murals of Venice and other Italian places. We were seated as soon as we walked in and had good service. We ordered a Spinach-Pita Calzone and a House Salad to split between the two of us. The salad was very generous, in fact it was perfect for two people. The Calzone was excellent! There was plenty of cheese and spinach and the bread dough was light and done perfectly.
I thought this meal was very good.
Even though we did not have children with us it appears to be very family-friendly.
The server was very attentive and helpful.
I would definitely recommend this place as an affordable place to eat in Gatlinburg.

Ripley's Aquarium

by abi_maha

I have been to many a aquarium across the world but this absolutely takes the cake! The number of weird sea animals you get to see here is amazing! We love animals and photographing them so we had a field day! Do check out their lethal weapons section it is unbelievable, you see tiny fish and octopuses with enough venom to kill 26 humans! One of the eels looked so grotesque I couldn't take my eyes off it. Also look out for the huge spider crabs! The jellyfish section is ofcourse the most popular area apart from the shark lagoon. So many sharks in the tunnel as you walk thru it and their jaws really make you feel glad you have the glass between you and them :))
Ray lovers get to touch one and see many, as they glide by the water they look so graceful! they really look like they are flying! :D
