Rocky Waters Motor Inn Gatlinburg

We booked this hotel online. Sounded Great...creekside balcony, King size bed, whirlpool tub, fridge, all the amenities we were looking for. When we pulled up...I was hoping and praying that this was not the place we had booked. It is a very old hotel....It was like something from a 70s horror flick. The Stairs were creaking and the hallway upstairs had carpet on it...the tub in the room was like this OLD Ivory and green color and looked like something Granny had at her old house! There was a stale odor in the air, I just couldnt get used to....It felt like we were the first people to enter that room in YEARS! It was VERY clean though.....just OLD!! The staff was VERY kind and they let us check out the room and then they didnt charge us when we decided not to stay. It was like the first hotel you came to when you get into Gatlinburg....so it was a little off the strip where we would walk and spend most of our days. We ended up searching several different hotels downtown G'burg and they were all pretty much the same....the big one downtown was VERY CREEPY. We ended up staying at a Major Name Hotel and had a great trip.... I guess you get what you pay for...but it was VERY outdated...just old and stale.
