Another home of my youth
"Indian Lake"
When we lived here we lived on the Indian lake "peninsula" (ie pay more to buy a house here). We lived in a nice ranch not far from Johnny Cash's home (we sold fruit to him every year for the band), and many other singers were in that area. I promise that if you tour the singers' homes, you would pass our house. This was a very quiet community and the elementary school was more like a private school. I think this place turned me into a bit of a social snob...If one flaunts their money, it really turns me off!
"The town"
There is plenty to do and if a person can't be entertained here it is just a short drive to Nashville. Most places to eat are the typical chain places but there are a few local favorites.
"My favorite memory"
As I was a little band geek, I have some interesting memories of Hendersonville that some people might not get. My favorite is band camp at the park. We were not allowed to practice on the football field so we had to hike (or in our case drive) to the practice field at the park. The biggest problem facing us there was the goose droppings that are EVERYWHERE!!! Anyway, long story short (too late) we trudged through this mess evryday for practice. At our last contest that year (1990) we won our competition (part anyway) with the song "Ode to the Park Geese".
