Travel Tips for Hendersonville

Visiting Hendersonville, TN

by GeneralTsao

Hendersonville is on Old Hickory Lake, a man-made lake which is perhaps only 35 years old.

All the regular lake amenities abound--there are several marinas.

Lots of history here--"Rock Castle" is one of the area's oldest homes--dating to the 1700's. There are cultural events held there several times per year.

Another old home is a private residence along Station Camp Creek at the corner of Saundersville Road (You may look at the house from the road, but don't go in the driveway!).

Trinity Broadcast Network (TBN) has one of its big compounds in Hendersonville. If you're into televangelists, you must stop here.

There are many nice homes to look at--many belonging to Country Music celebrities, and several companies in nearby Nashville offer driving tours of these neighborhoods.

Don't miss the shopping--Hendersonville is a little town with little to offer, but as such things are, our little stores are unique, and worth the visit.

Don't forget to eat at the Mason Jar (meat-n-two, Blue Goose Cafe(awesome cheeseburgers), and Jimmy's Pizza (ask Jimmy for a Gyros Pizza).

Hendersonville, Tennessee, is a city located Northeast of Nashville.

Its population is about 35,000 persons, and income is typically above the national average (mine, sadly, is not).

There is nothing really fantastic about Hendersonville. There is no amusement park or revolving restaurant.

However, it's a peaceful community, and nice to visit. Quite picturesque, too.

Future is promising
The City is currently planning a nice lakeside shopping strip and greenway.

Their goal is to attract shoppers from Nashville and other surrounding areas by building a nice center filled with boutiques and eclectic shops.

I hope their planning goes well, and they find excellent stores and restaurants to move in there.

Hendersonville has a lot of potential, but it will take a lot of good decisions on the parts of the City, Businesses, and Community.

Trivia:
Hendersonville is home to many celebrities, mostly having to do with country music.

Hendersonville Ghosts

by Little_Lou_Lou

"Hendersonville High School"

Hendersonville - Hendersonville High School - Stories go that Colonel Barry (who used to own the property) haunts the high school. Staff and custodial staff often heard extra footsteps and the fire doors would open and shut, as if somebody opened them to walk through. A teacher was once sitting in the bleachers watching cheerleading practice below and she heard (and felt) footsteps coming up to her, but nobody was there. She called practice off and refused to go in the bleachers at night. Traditionally, the band members would walk through the building between summer practices to experience the ghost. One such venture ended abruptly when all the lights in the gymnasium went out (including the exit signs) and the score board lit up with the simple message of "GO"...We went...

"Trinity Broadcasting Theater"

Hendersonville - Trinity Broadcasting Theater - Often a man with long black hair dressed in black can be seen walking up behind you. When you turn around you see no one is there. There are always sounds in the theatre. I wonder who this could be!?

"Ellis Middle School"

Hendersonville - Ellis Middle School - Formerly Hendersonville High School, this school is reputed to be haunted by a phantom known as "The Colonel." A former night cleaning staff working at night have heard his footsteps walking the upstairs hall when the place was supposed to be empty and another person has seen a figure lurking in the windows of the library on the second floor. The round structure was built with a lot of steel which might account for the nature of the sounds and haunting.
