Filthiest Room Ever!
I booked a reservation at the American Inn in Memphis, TN based on: 1) proximity to Graceland and 2) so-called "guest reviews". When we arrived, they didn't have our reservation, but "found" a room for us. There might have been 3 other cars in the parking lot.
The first thing I did was remove the bedspreads. The sheets obviously HAD NOT BEEN CHANGED. Stains on the bedspreads. No blankets. Bathtub was absolutely filthy. Someone had used the toilet & not flushed. There was what appeared to be a bullet hole in the wall. My traveling companion wanted to just leave & lose our money. The room was $55.00 PLUS TAX, which made it $67.00. I took our keys to the office & told the desk clerk that was the filthiest room I'd EVER seen. He didn't seem at all surprised & refunded my credit card. So, after driving all day, we drove another 25 miles east of Memphis & found a Motel 6. I asked to see the room before we paid for it. The gentleman had no problem with that & was very understanding when I told him what we'd just been through. The room was exceptionally clean AND $47.00, including tax. DO NOT STAY at the American Inn by Graceland. My first clue should have been the signs in the parking lot that read "Park at Your Own Risk".
Unique Quality: Horrible place. Should be condemned.
