Stayed at the Benchmark, and it was o.k. The staff was very helpful especially Banard. The rooms were clean, but the carpet was old and the paint was peeling from the ceiling. The fan in the elevator made alot of noise. The location was great with Beale Street two blocks away.

OK it had to be done.
A lot smaller than I thought but so very 70's (yes I am old enough to remember)
You can't go to Memphis without a visit even if you're not a big fan.
Fell in love with my first sighting of the Mississippi.
We stayed in the Best Western Benchmark hotel which is a bang opposite the Peabody at a fraction of the price. Have booked again for June 2005.
Great bars all within walking distance.
