Nice Hotel !!!

Stayed at the Comfort Inn Downtown and it's a pretty nice hotel. Right across the street from Mud Island. The rooms were clean, and the staff was very helpful. Beale Street is about a 10 minute walk.

Unique Quality: The fitness room was small, but had two nice swimming pools.

We went in September 2004, It was our first time to visit the U.S.A. The staff was great and very helpfull with information about the area, rooms where excellent, breakfast was something for everyone no matter what country come from and also plentyful to give you a great start to the day. no problems what so ever. about 6 min walk to everywhere, Beal St the music out of this world.mind you to go into the bars cost 5 dollars to get your hand stamp so you could come and go as you liked. If we get back to Memphis we will been going back to this hotel

Would stay again at the Comfort Inn

Good central Memphis location with a good view of the Mississippi. Although it wasn't within walking distance to downtown attractions, it was only a block from the quaint trolley line that we enjoyed taking to them. The hotel was secure, but parking in their garage was limited. Heater/AC unit in room didn't work, but front desk personnel got maintenance man in late at night, and it was quickly repaired. That was the only negative we found. The room was nice and well kept with all the advertised amenities. The rate was reasonable, and the desk people were helpful.

Just OK!!

We just got back from a long weekend in Memphis!! The front desk staff is not the friendliest. They do give the impression of being bothered when we asked them questions.

The biggest problem I had with the hotel is that they charge you $5/day for each car you park in the garage. I didn't even know until I checked out. So if you can park on the street on the weekends. Had we known we would have because they direct you to park in the garage and tell you nothing about the charges!!

The bonus was the location to Beale. If it had been summer we would've walked, but we had below freezing temps so we drove. The room was great except there are no fridges or microwaves.

The workout room is small and only has a treadmill, bike, stepper, and 50-yr old universal!!

The Greek restaurant, O'kypos, was good, especially the Gyros! Not the cleanest but we'd go back.

So check out a Memphis Grizzlies game and Beale St. We also went to the Civil Rights Museum which was very enlightening and I believe most would enjoy it.

All in all we would stay somewhere else if we went back and wanted to stay downtown.

We liked it just fine

We went to Memphis for a quick getaway trip and to see Graceland and Sun Studios. This hotel served us well. It was clean, quiet, and convienient to everything we wanted to do. For the price and location you cannot beat this hotel.

Nice but be sure to get a window

When I booked our room online for the Comfort Inn Downtown I opted for a "quiet room." Who doesn't want a quiet room? When we got there, we discovered that our room had no windows! The place was booked solid, so we couldn't get a comparable room with a window. If you stay here and you like looking outside to see if it's raining, be sure to get a room with a window.
Otherwise, this is an okay place. They seemed to run out of food (and didn't bring out more) at breakfast, so get there before the last 45 minutes. The location is convenient to many downtown sites because of the trolley, which you can pick up a block away from the hotel.
Rooms are clean, personnel were all very friendly and helpful.

Great hotel

We arrived at this hotel after spending 4 days in a tiny hotel in New York and it was heaven! Our room was massive and very clean. Also, the room came with a full sized fridge freezer.

We got a decent breakfast. Plus, there is free internet access in the reception area (only one PC though). But, i never had to wait to use it. The fitness centre has only 3 machines and, unfortunatley the swimming pool is outdoor. Therefore, seasonal.

However, Beale Street is a 10 minute walk. Graceland is a 25 minute taxi ride. Although, there is a free shuttle bus which picks up from the hotel every couple of hours. The staff were helpful in arranging tours and airport taxi's etc.

I would really recommend this hotel!

Good location

We have recently spent a couple of days in Memphis at the Dowwntown Comfort Inn. The room was clean, the staff friendly. The rooms are large, the complementary continental breakfasts are more than adequate (though hated the plastic cutlery)! The best feature is the location; overlooking the Mississippi River, with the trolley buses (60 cents) stopping just outside the hotel, ready to teke you the 5 minute ride to Beale Street.
If you are stopping in Memphis, we thoroughly recommend doing the "American Dream Safari" Greatest Hits tour in Tad Pearson's 1955 Cadillac, which is advertised as lasting three hours, but which for us lasted four hours. He sits down and finds out what you want to see and do, rather than just doing a pre-set route. Pricier thatn average, but the best tour we have ever experienced.
Memphis is a great place, and the Comfort Inn is very competitively priced- good value.

Would reccomend it

We stayed at the comfort inn the first weekend in April. The room was great with a nice view of the Mississippi River. The room itself was a nice size and furnished nicely. There is a nice Greek Restaurant nearby. We walked down to peabody place and the peabody and beale street. The streetcar is a block away but don't bother. not very reliable. Parking is $5 a night. You are right across from Mud Island and the riverboats as well as Tom Lee Park. I would not walk down Main street or Front street at night however. the area around the peabody is fine though. all in all a good value for downtown memphis. hard to find a place to eat lunch though. everything closes on the weekend except the places on beale street.
