Just relax down the Mississippi river
When we arrived in Memphis we stopped at the visitor center on the banks of the Mississippee river... We just relaxed for a while and enjoy the view...

My family will be in Memphis from a Sunday afternoon til Tuesday morning. What are some good places to go and some places to eat. I have a 14 and a 15 year old. So far I have considered Mud Island, Riverboat Cruise, Gibson Guitar factory, carrige ride and Hard Rock Cafe. Any information would be helpful. We are staying a Springhill Suites.
Having been to Memphis a half dozen times on business over the past 10 years here is what I would recommend.
Things To Do:
1) National Civil Rights Museum - Located in the Hotel where ML King was shot.
2) Pink Palace Museum Complex - Interesting museum which was associated with the Piggly Wiggly grocery store chain. They also have an IMAX theatre now showing a movie called The Alps
3) Peabody Place - Some games for the kids, some shopping for you
4) Ride the trolley in downtown area
5) They have a Triple A baseball team located right downtown where you can catch a game if they are in town.
6) The Ducks at the Peabody Hotel
Places to Eat
1) The Rendevous - For Ribs or Sandwiches (downtown)
2) The Neeley's Interstate BBQ - If you go you have to have the BBQ Spaghetti. It is my favorite.

The Stella Maris club, which now I've heard was closed, offered Latin dance on fridays nights.
I think the owners chanced it into a different kind of club, so here are some fotos for the nice time we had there....
If you choose to take the public transportation service in Memphis you'll be using MATA: Memphis Area Transit Authority. I'm not familiar with how MATA works at all, but check out their website if you're interested. You'll probably be okay on the trolley downtown, but I wouldn't really recommend taking the MATA around the city.
It is small, but feels very cosmopolitan. Moderate prices. They have recently acquired a baby grand piano, and soon will have live music nightly. Always beautiful fresh flowers. A complimentary Creme Brulee for your birthday celebration. Braised Lamb Shank, Veal Picata
