I attended the grand opening...
by Nomad_2001
I attended the grand opening of the Country Music Hall of Fame on May 18, 2001. This is an absolute MUST see in Nashville. Even a non-fan of country music can appreciate the history of country music and the musicians who have contributed to it.
Opryland Mills Shopping Center
by emilienoelle about Malls
This huge mall is located next to the Grand Ole Opry and the Opryland Hotel and Conference Center. There is likely nothing that you can't find in this place as it has an enormous food court, an aquarium, and every concievable chain store known to mankind within its walls. It's also got a 20 screeen movie theatre where I went to see the Johnny Cash biopic "Walk the Line" because how many people will ever be able to say that they saw that film across the street from the Opry? Not many! : )
Great Breakfast and Celebrity Sightings
by travelteacher about Pancake Pantry
Pancake Pantry is the Original Pancake House (for those of you familiar with the ones in Southern California/Nevada) of Tennessee! Breakfast here is reasonably priced, big portions, and EVERYONE has to wait in line--including those famous Music City stars. Sourdough Pancakes--hard to describe, but definitely worth the 20 minutes we had to stand in line!
A Meat and Three for Thee
by mstinawu about Monell's
For all you city slickers out there, a "meat and three" is a basic "food stuff" of the South. It's a meat (meatloaf, pot roast, fried chicken, etc.) and three "vegetables" where a vegetable apparently includes mac n cheese. I ordered a lackluster pot roast, but it came with three amazing sides (roasted potatoes, mac n cheese and corn pudding) and a biscuit. My favorite was definitely the corn pudding. My boyfriend ordered the fried chicken with the mac n cheese, coleslaw and green beans (I made him opt for the less awesome corn bread vs the biscuit). I'm not sure if it's an Asian thing, but my mother has always been a big proponent of taking a walk after big meals and we needed a walk after this meal, badly. We went off to nearby Radnor Lake and took a short hike. It was definitely needed after a meal like this! We wanted dessert, but our eyes were bigger than our stomachs. The cole slaw, the mac n cheese and corn pudding were my favorite items. I loved the corn pudding--not too sweet with the right amount of salty goodness too!
The Parthenon
by LisaAnnDow
Take a trip back into the past at Nashville's replica of the greek Pathenon. In the 1800's the people of Nashville built an exact, full-sized replica of the Parthenon, including the worlds largest free-standing statue of the godess Athena, plated in gold.
